love of my life - dave w/ santana

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

love of my life - dave w/ santana

Unread post by stannard » Wed Sep 08, 2004 7:04 pm

This is a more accurate tab than the one posted;

Chord Definitions

Gm - 355333
D/A - 5x77xx
Cm - x35543
Bb - x1333x
(G) - 3xxxxx \________ The parentheses are supposed to indicate that only the bass note
(A) - 5xxxxx / is played.

For the chords Gm, Cm and Bb, Dave sometimes just plays the power chords,
but I'd recommend playing the barred chords for a fuller sound when playing
solo.

Intro:
Gm D/A Gm D/A Cm Bb

Gm Cm D/A
where you are is where i want to be
and through your eyes all the things i want to see
and in the night you are my dream
Cm Bb Gm D/A
you're everything to meeeeeheee heee

Chorus:
Gm
you're the love
D/A
of my life
Gm
and the breath
D/A
in my prayers
Cm
take my hand
Bb
lead me there
Gm D/A
what i need is you here

Gm Cm D/A
i can't forget the taste of your mouth
and from your lips all the heavens pour out
i can't forget when we are one
Cm Bb Gm D/A
it's you alone and i am free heeeee hee
(G)(A) Cm
ev--ry day
Bb
every night
Gm
you alone are the love of my life

(G)(A) Cm
ev--ry day
Bb
every night
Gm
you alone are the love of my life

Cm D/A
we go dancing in the moonlight
Gm Cm D/A
and the starlight in your eyes
we go dancing 'til the sunrise
you and me we gonna dance dance dance

jam (Same chords as above: Gm, Cm, D/A)

Santana:

-------------------------------------
-----------------------------6-------
-----------7--5-----------------8----
--5--7--8--------7--5--7--8--------7-
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
-------3/5-3/5--8--7-----5/7-5--------------
-7-7-8-----------------8--------7-5-5-5-4-7-
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------

Every day, every night, you alone, you are the love of my life:

--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
------------10--8-----8--7------------------------
--7--8--10---------7--------5--5-5-5-8--7--5--5---
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------

The stuff he does in the verses is pretty much entirely improvisational, so it would be really,
really annoying to tab out. I'll leave that ridiculous task up to someone more anal than myself.

Here's the lick that Santana plays at the end of the song (and integrates into his solo, as well):

---------------------------
---------------------------
------------5-----5--------
--5-7-8-7-5----7-----8--5--
---------------------------
---------------------------

Or, an octave up:

---------------8------8---------
--8-10-11-10-8----10-----11--8--
--------------------------------
--------------------------------
--------------------------------
--------------------------------

I found it on http://www.guitartabs.cc which is a great site for all kinds of tabs.
hope it helps out all the dave fans.

This is getting old, we need to think of some new kewl way to say welcome for some freshness compared to some good good pie.

How about: Ching Ching, you're at dmbtabs now

Or maybe: Give me your lunch, little mucker, and stay at dmbtabs

Plus: Where the willows wind blow, there you will be . . . which is dmbtabs

Or the crown jewel: Get the fuck out - love from dmbtabs

I do think that would be a good idea. I'll admit I said it once, awhile back. Now it annoys the hell out of me.

you don't like:

welcome to dmbtabs, would you like some pie?

how about dmbtabs, if you love the band and love playing guitar and discussing the band then you've just entered heaven, welcome to it.

obviously/hopefully, if someone comes across this site then they have an interest in the band and they will interact/play nicely. fuckers are easy to pick out and are easy to ignore.

i dug this site in the begining cause it had awesome tabs and then i discovered the chat and learned an amazing amount of dave knowledge. i love this place soo much i've made it my hompage and i visit it atleast 10 time a day.

i don't know, dmbtabs, welcome to it just sounds right to me.

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.
