Desperately in need of help with The Stone...

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Dude, if you've only been playing guitar for 4 months like you said, I'll be muy impressed if you get that song down. I just conquered that intro myself and I was hung up on that spot, too. What I realized, was that it wasn't the 232 that was screwing me...it was the lead in to that. Check the tab as well as the video's and just keep going. Hope that helps. I still can't believe you are going to try that song. Knock yourself out. :D

It's not overly difficult, the transition and chorus are pretty easy actually. I got this video off of KAZAA or something of Dave playing it solo at some radio station in CA. It has some nice shots of him playing it, if anyone wants it, I'll be glad to send it over AIM.

Back to topic I just can't do it, its more like a 2h3p2 it seems... thoughts...

You gotta alternate pick that 5-5-2-3-2 part. keep that right hand doing the sixteenth notes... I downstroke the first three notes ( the 5, the 2, and the 3). Then I do quick DUDUDU (Probably not the EXACT number of strokes here) strokes for the 5-5-2-3-2 part. I hope that helps...sorry if it doesn't.

I'm with you on this. That last 2 doesn't sound very good in my opinion. I'm sure some of you guys can make it sound pretty but I play it without and I think it sounds fine.

It's not really a hammer on. You just need to keep your stumming hand moving rather quickly to get it down. Just keep on practicing... you'll get it sooner or later. And like it was stated above, it is more of an up and down strumming on each note your playing, so be sure to just keep the hand moving, and you'll have it in no time :-)

Remember theres a pause though. Just before you play the last 2, theres a small pause. just play it slowly and you'll get the hang of it. if you want, send me an email, and i can show you how to play it via MSN.

Hope it helps

I just going to IM you, but you put up an away message :-( But I haven't really been on much. I'd only be on for a bit to see what's been going on, other than that, not a whole lot. I'm slowly making my way back into the picture, so many new people I can't keep everyone straight anymore ;-) But I'll get back into the swing of things :-)
