DDTW Tab Trouble

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

DDTW Tab Trouble

Unread post by Smaegol » Mon Feb 17, 2003 5:59 pm

Whats the Tab for the part in Dont Drink the Water when he switches to the "Now as I Rest My feet by this fire, those hands once warmed here, well I have retired them, I can breathe my own air, and I can sleep more soundly, upon these poor souls, Ill build heaven and call it home".. It doesnt say in the tab, and it just sounds different from the rest of the song

Thanks,
Smaegol

its the same 3 chords that you've used throughout the song.

jsut got back and forth from 5-5-5-7-x-x to x-5-7-7-x-x then at the "upon these poor souls part" go down to x-2-4-4-x-x

you should be able to hear the difference now that you know the chords.

try this tab out. i've often thought the same thing, and i just made this now. it picks up at "now as I...........

rest.....fire....warmed......retired
E-------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------
G---7--------7---------4---------7--------
D---5--------4---------2---------4---------
A---5--------5---------2---------5-------
E---5--------0-------------------0----------

own......soundly.....upon
E---------------------------------
B---------------------------------
G--7---------7---------4---------
D--5---------4---------4---------
A--5---------5---------2---------
E--5---------0--------------------

when you watch Dave play it, he dosn't go up to 2 on strings A and D, but he does something that sounds like that. but i jsut figured this out on the spot so it's not perfect. tell me what you think

I've been trying like hell to get that sound. I'm sure it comes from his DD-5. I also htink he rubs his slide against the string. BUt I'm no too sure.

I hope someone knows because I would love to be able to do that on a recording....

Peace,
