41 jam

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hey,
I just looked at the Listener Supported DVD version of #41, and I believe the chords played are the same as the intro with some muting between them.
I played it, and I think it's correct.
Like so:

Code: Select all

E:-------------------------------
B:---------------8-x---3---------
G:---5-x---7-x---7-x---0---------
D:---2-x---4-x---5-x---4---------
A:---3-x---5-x---7-x-5-5---------
E:-5-5-x-7-7-x-0-0-x-------------
Hope that helps. :)
Yes, I am Indian and I play the guitar. Believe It.

Yeah that's it...here it is tabbed out with all the mutes...I add the quick 3 strums at the end...i remember jkanter's old audio files on the site sounded something like this i think.

E:-------------------------------------
B:-------------------------------------
G:---5-x--5x--5x--555-----7x--7x--
D:---2-x--2x--2x--222-----4x--4x--
A:---3-x--3x--3x--333-----5x--5x--
E:-5-5-x--5x--5x--555--7-7x---7x- etc....

same pattern for all chords listed above :)
My "gitter" was my best investment

I play it like that except the third chord I've heard people play like this:

----
----
--4-
--5-
--7-
----
"...Sing and dance I'll play for you tonight The thrill of it all Dark clouds may hang on me sometimes But I'll work it out..."

Dave Matthews - Dancing Nancies

What about later in the song?

I know about the jam for the first couple of minutes that mimicks the intro, but what about after 5:06 on the listener supported version. He breaks into something different, and I think he is fingerpicking. I tried to look at the DVD, but they don't show his fingers for most of it. Is it the same cords as the intro riff just fingered differently? I think there if something up around the 12th or 13th fret. Thanks.
