Strumming on a few songs...

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Strumming on a few songs...

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Sun Feb 09, 2003 7:01 pm

I've got a question about struming patterns on a few songs...

1)DDTW - I've been doing kind of a down, down, up, down, up thing...
2)#41 - Particularly on the verse...i think i got the intro...
3)Satellite - On the "Winters Cold..." part...mine just doesn't sound right...
4)Nancies - I've been doing a down, up, down(muted), the alt up/down

I know it's a lot of stuff, but I'de appriciate the help...

those are all really cool songs that every dave loving guitar playing person deserves to know how to play but i don't think i could explain how to play them in a down, down, down, up kind of way. the way i learned them was this........i just listened to every dave song alot and i got to know every chord change and the timing and the drum beats and stephens lines and even leroi's solo's. to be able to play a song you have to know how listen to it beforehand. this may or may-not help you, it's just how i taught myself. i think you'd be better off just listening to live at luther college and any other D&T shows you can get a hold of. i do know that if you do all those things you will understand how dave strums but i guess its kind of the long way to solving your problem, but an acoustic show would help you plenty. if you learn to love it, you will learn to play it, young jedi. just kidding. did i mention i've been drinking?
