So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Here they are, in a compressed folder:

Videos!

Recently Added:
Ants Marching

Hope they help. :)

Oh, and please don't stream the file, instead download the file as they are pretty big. :)

Everyone thank the following for hosting!

1. Jimi Thing Intro/Verse

2. Jimi Thing Verse->Chorus Transition

On the C chord, don't forget the sus chord. (Just put your pinky 3rd fret, D string...It's not in the video, but it's very minor)
Another thing - Dave usually just mutes the 024 chord completely.

3. Tripping Billies Verse
When I slow it down, pay more attention to the second time I play it slowly. (It flows better)
NOTE: Like Granny, Dave plays this kinda different on different releases. On L@LC, he plays it like this (I forgot tomention that he slides from the 4 to the 5, while in the video, I hammered. Not a big deal though. However, on the Gorge for example, he hits the D chord quick, and the holds it. Listen carefully, you'll get it.

4. Rhyme & Reason Verse
This video has two angles. Sorry about the cord in Angle 2. It does not obstruct anything, though.

5. Say Goodbye Verse/Chorus
Pretty self-explanitory.

6. Lie In Our Graves Intro/Band Comes In
I should have kept playing after the part where the band comes in, but I didn't. You get the overall gist though.

7. Lover Lay Down Verse/Chorus
JKanter's video is a little confusing. It looks like he has trouble with the weird fingering. Anyway, I think this is a little more accurate rhythm wise.
Oh, by the way - thats my watch going off at the end. I though I cut that part out!

8. The Stone Intro/Verse
Two angles. I didn't do the chorus or the "I will go.." parts because the chorus is straight forward, and Kanter's video is right on for the "I will go..." part.

9. So Damn Lucky Verse/Chorus
Definitely not my best one, but you can still get the feel for the rhythm and everything. I got lazy with this one.

10. Everyday (All Parts)
I slowed down the bridge/breakdown or whatever you call it.

11. One Sweet World Verse
Umm. Yeah.

12. Stay (All Parts)
A few things: Sorry about the sound changing - this is due to me forgetting that my guitar was plugged in. (It was playing through the computer speakers, as well as being picked up through the mic.) Anyway - for the breakdown thing - for the last 6-7-8 crawl up, I used my index, middle, and ring fingers. The tab says to use your index finger, but it's more convenient for me doing it my way. (Either way - it doesn't really matter.) Also - the intro/verse part - I had been playing it wrong without knowing it. I was playing it as 5-7 instead of 6-7. 6-7 is the correct way. Follow the tab.

13. Granny (All Parts)
Two things: One - the tab on the main site is wrong. There is no 7 on the D string. You drone the D string. Listen to any version, it's obvious. Two - Dave likes to change when he changes chords in the intro/verse. Listen to Luther for example. He'll hold the 7-5 chord longer than the D, then he'll switch it up and do the opposite. Listen and you'll get it.

14. Satellite Chorus
It might be a bit sloppy, but it should work. Then second time I slow it down, I use my index finger instead of my middle (you'll notice it). Nothing major though. Just use your middle like all the other times I did it.

15. Hello Again
I might have found the missing chord. I included it in the video. It may not be 100%, but it works for me. Oh yeah, I'm not real big on the whole barring with the pinky thing, so I barred the three 7's in the last D chord with my ring finger. Dave uses his pinky. *NOTE* the change in the in tab...

Here's my tab, take it for what you will:

Code: Select all

E-----3--3--3---------------3-----3-----3--3--3--
B-----3--1--3--REPEAT 2X----1-----1-----3--1--3--
G--0--0--3--0---------------0--3--0--0--0--3--0--
D------------------------------------------------
A-------------------------3----------------------
E------------------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------------------------
B---------------------------1--1-------------------------
G--3--3---------3--3--------0--0---------3--3------------
D--x--x---------x--x--------2--2---------x--x------------
A--1--1---------1--1--------3--3---------1--1------------
E--3--3---1--3--3--3---1-3--3--3---1--3--3--3------1--3--

E-----------------------------
B-----------------------6--7--
G--2--8--8--2--8--8--7--7--7--
D--3--8--7--3--8--7--8--7--7--
A--3--6--6--3--6--6--8--5--5--
E--1-----8--1-----8--6--------
Earlier, I had the 8678 chord as 86x8, but from reading/listening further, Dave is playing 8678. Not that the video has 86x8 as the chord.

This is what Kanter got for the last part, it seems more complete:

OK so I was a little off w/ what I thought I saw at the concert on Hello Again....I got a video of it and it's FAIRLY clear...I have trouble seeing the 2nd chord but I think this is right.

BTW, the video is posted in the Trading Depot through Bit Torrent

Code: Select all

E-------------------
B----------------8--
G--2--8---8--8---8--
D--3--x---8--7---8--
A--3--6---6--6---6--
E--1---------8------
Pretty much the same thing Pat has...great tab man....just a small change

2nd chord is played on "Over and Ov-".....3rd chord is played on "-Er"...4th chord is played on "I'm gonna see"....5th chord is played on "Her"..then it repeats on the F chord back when he says "Face..."

anyone get that besides me???

Play that part 2 times then go into the "...Face" part

16. Minarets
I finger the 7-9-11 riff slightly different (the very last part). You'll see. Sorry I didn't slow down the 024 part. I figured since it was the same as the main riff, I didn't need to.

17. Sugar Will
This song is a toughie. Very tough on your hands (the strecth ) But yeah, like other songs, practice make perfect. :) I apologize for my hand going out of sight for part of the verse, you can figure it out though. The tab has been going around is perfect, except for one thing. This part:

Code: Select all

Chorus (in 7/8):

e---------------|---------------|
b---------------|---------------|
g---------------|---------------|
d-3---7---3-7---|-2---5---2-5---|
a-5-7-5-7-5-5-7-|-3-5-3-5-3-3-5-|
E---------------|---------------|

e---------------|-------------------|
b--THIS PART----|-------------------|
g-2---5---2-5---|-------------------|
d-3-5-3-5-3-3-5-|-3---7---3-7---(3)-|
a---------------|-5-7-5-7-5-5-7-(5)-|
E---------------|-------------------|
should be:

Code: Select all

e---------------|
b---------------|
g-4---7---4-7---|
d-5-7-5-7-5-5-7-|
a---------------|
e---------------|
But yeah, It's most likely just a mental mistake. :)

18. Crush
In the interest of bandwith I didn't include the breakdown/jam part or the end jam, as they are pretty straightforward. Remember that the "It's crazy...how you..." part is wrong on the site. The correct tab is below:

Thanks to Duffman for the tab!

Code: Select all

E:---------------------------------
B:-3----3----3----2----------------
G:-x----0----2----2----4--5--4--5--
D:-4----4----x----x----x--x--x--x--
A:-2----2----x----x----x--x--x--x--
D:-----------2----2----3--3--5--5--
Also, the "Lovely Lady..." chords are slightly it off as well. (I watched the AOL Sessions to confirm this) They are actually 5557 and 7779.

19. Ants Marching
Yep.

So.. yeah...Enjoy. :) If you can help host, email me at pat@patmcinnis.com or hit me up on AIM - DMBguitar718

Haha, Thanks guys. Glad I could help. :)

On a side note, the main tab on this side has a couple flaws - ring the A and E strings like in the video, hit the 9 on the G string on the first hammer on (not in the tab) and make sure to include the open A string for the A chord and the 6h7 hammer on.

Pat,

like the post above, i was wondering if you could maybe do a quick video of the pre-chorus and chorus segments of the tab...you dont have to include you saying what you are doing..just a little video of you playing it maybe once or twice, if not thats cool tho!

Your video just helped me pretty much learn to play it the right way in like 15 seconds, the only thing im having trouble with is the little mute you do after the first hammer on the 9h11, you make that mute/slap noise, kinda hard for me to do!

I don't need help with jimi thing, but i watched your video of the prechorus/chorus and noticed that on the c chord x3201x it goes x3201x x3301x and you didn't play the 2nd chord, you just stayed on the C. I noticed not many people play the x3301x part.. don't know why

Thanks again Pat ... I realize I wasn't strumming correctly. I really appreciate you doing that.
