So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

yep, he definitely strums the whole song....however most of the time he's just strumming the one string that he's playing so it could appear that he's picking it. also see this thread and also this one for more information. if you do a search for the stone you'll find many many threads on it.

I just got done playing it for a talnt show last wed. night...you just have to get so used to the pattern that you can hum every note in your head, then you just have to mute like crazy and keep good time

I would almost call it a mix between a strum and a pick. He strums, but all the fingers are in a position that all the strings are muted except for the note that needs to be played. One hint, all the single notes are downstrokes, except for the quicker played notes on the D string. Of course, the G minor chord is strummed, and the chorus is strummed. The transition is picked with all downstrokes after the first chorus, but when he repeats it again, he sometimes starts a harder strumming action. i submitted that part for the tabs, maybe it'll be up later.

just keep at it, man. It took me forever to get it sounding good, so believe me, you're not alone. I played along with the LS version so much when I was learning it.

have fun with it.

peace

Oh yeah, on Kazaa, don't download the Charlie Rose version, there is another one where he is at a radio station doing a private concert, it is much better. you can also see his fingers more close up to learn the song...
