Where to look???
Where to look???
Been playing a lot of songs off here and what's killing me is that I look different places while playing different songs. Like if I'm playing "Crash" I usually watch my right hand while I pick the bass notes and strum. If I play "#41" then I look at my fret hand making sure I'm getting the right postioning. Sounds good so far, right? Or wrong?
I get missed picks when I watch while I fret and dead notes or buzzes when I concentrate on my right hand. I don't know where to look! I try both but that doesn't really work either, especially for fast songs like WWYS.
LoL then you should try to see me sing and do all that. I look like I got freaking Partikans disease!
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Where to look???
Partikans disease?????? sounds serious. But anyways, before you try singing and playing, really make sure that you have the rhythm DOWN. Once you feel like you've got the rhythm, make sure that you're confident with your picking and consisently hitting the string that you want to. And relax, and just try to let it flow, you'll get it.Pacs wrote:Been playing a lot of songs off here and what's killing me is that I look different places while playing different songs. Dave usually looks at his fret hand when he is singing. you can usually see him looking out of the corner of his eye. Me in the other hand need to look at my pciking hand since I have no depth perseption without looking. it doesnt really matter. as long as you can play the rythm...you can always get someone else to sing

Sometimes I will watch my fret hand in the mirror (laugh all you want) just to see what the stretch looks like if someone was watching me. The second I look in the mirror everything turns back asswards and I mess up.
I think the only 2 songs I can play/sing perfect from start to finish without looking at the guitar at all would be Crash and Where are you going.

I try to kind of blankly stare at the middle of my guitar neck, with my right eye peeking at my fretting hand and my left eye peering at my picking hand. (I'm a lefty player)
Then I kind of track in between my picking and fretting hand using my eyes as a sort of guard tower looking down at my hands watching everything.
I'm sure that made no sense. Sorry.

HA, the big rack is quite the crowd pleaser...I usually look at my fretting hand when I'm playing a song I know, just out of habit. when I'm learning a song I have to look at both cause I'll f it up otherwise
