Digging a Ditch

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Does anyone have a good tab for this song? The one on the site doesn't seem right to me.

the tab on the site is correct

though it says there it is a ton of variation, so just mess around with G and C stuff and see what you come up with

not a real complicated song though, so once you work on it for a few minutes, it should hit pretty quickly

Live @ Folsom Field shows what Dave does very well, I would recommend going out and buying that DVD, great show! :-)

Oh yeah, I forgot that was on L @ FF...I'm just saying that it's kinda general to say the song is a variation of something so simple. I mean, that can be said about any song. It's like saying the Trppin Billies verse is a variation of the nature intro...that's true but very general. I guess I'm just one of those people who feels it's not worth playing unless it's played right, you know?

ok, there is a differnce between talking about a variation on Billies and on Ditch

Billies = when people who say a variation of nature, is meaning that it was based on that chord, but structured it into the verse part. It was an inspiration, that took ONE variation of it, and kept it.

Ditch = one word, Improv. It's random, you do what feels good, there is nothing set at all. You can even hear Dave sometimes sliding around (like on the begning of it on busted stuff). You do what sounds good, and feels, all whatever. Nothing is set in stone except the key and rythem.

So

Billies variation = structed off of ONE variation

Ditch variation = Improv/Random
Yes, I am in a box
