Grey Street Help

Unread post by dmbRJR » Wed Apr 07, 2004 8:32 pm

After a few month hiatus, I am back working on Grey Street. Can anyone help me with the rhythm/stumming of the main chorus. I listen to the video clip and just can't pick it up. Any help would be great. Thanks!

There's been a few threads on Grey Street lately :? Anyway, just keep practicing man, you'll get it. I can't really help you out if you can't get it with a video clip and the audio. If anything listen to a D&T version of it and pay reall close attention, and, as stupid as this may sound, play an air guitar to get the fell of the rhythm. Other than that I can't really help you out, Hope you get it :-)

not to hammer the nail any further, but if you can play trippin billies, recently, nancies, two step and too much then you really shouldn't have any trouble picking up grey street. what video do you have, check out, i thinks its folsom, there's good vids on that or maybe a letterman show or something. sounds like you just need to practice. it can suck reading about people getting better everday on the boards but if you want to improve i think you should practice for atleast an hour a day. that's what i do. anyway, goodluck.

i know exactly what your talking about, i had trouble with it too. dave's style of struming is very rhythmic so he just strums. for grey street, do just that, just strum and keep the rhythm. don't think about the song when you are struming, just keep it consistant. you can try just muting all the strings and stuming, then start playing without changing the pace of your right hand.

another thing that is tricky in grey street is is the xx6xx5 chord is an upstoke. you'll see that it is an upstroke if you do the rhythm struming i was talking about. good luck!
