Actually, for the 99 D&T Tour his main axe was a HD-28. (So Monk says.)

But for storytellers he used an HD-28v.

So, in actuality he played both. :D

(disclamer: I could be wrong  )

Peace,

I'd just like to mention that on the 28 v. 28v issue, I have absolutely no fucking idea.

I'd just like to mention that on the 28 28v case, why is it being argued about...

Just accuracy I guess....I wasn't really arguing. It's just nice to have proper info out there. Nothing else.

Just want everyone to know that I have no freaking clue either. I got an instant message today asking me if I knew what he played (either a 28 or 28v) only because the person posing the question though I would have solid proof due to my board name "hd28v." And no, I did not buy it b/c I thought Dave played it. It is a kick ass piece of wood, just as all Martins are!

Im pretty sure dave plaed the hd-28V on storytellers... the tale tale sign is the bridge... if you look at the pictures or video you can see that it is noticibly longer than a regular bridge(ie goes like 3/4" above and below the E strings, and regular guitars ar like 1/4" past the strings) . If you go to martin and look at both the hd-28 and hd-28v you will see what im talking about. On another board someone actully e-mailed martin guitars and he got a response saying it was an HD-28V. Either way both guitars are unbelievable and id be more than happy with eiter.

Has Dave ever used an Ovation guitar? I just started playing not to long ago and the guitar I bought (1st guitar) was an Ovation because I thought it was easier to move around on. I really respect Dave as a guitarist and would expect that he uses the best guitars out there. Are Ovations shitty or just not part of Dave's collection?
Why won't you ever be glad, it melts into wonder-ahhhhhhhh!

Dave played an ovation before he could afford good guitars

He played one back in the early days. There is a video kicking around that has him playing it.

Peace,
