What DMB Song Could You Replace Dave On?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Maybe Too Much, since when I play it I put in about twice as many different fills as dave does and make it sound even funkier.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

For me: LIOG, stone (at least the verse), and tripping billies
I find it very hard to believe you can play Stone or Billies just like Dave. Most people who claim they can play Stone just like Dave are full of shit.

actually, it isn't all that hard to play it exactly the way he does. not sure how long everyone here has been playing...i started 7 years ago on 'live at luther college' and i can emulate it exactly. but like another guy says, i have more fun trying to mix it up a little bit and putting my own spin on it. sometimes its not fun trying to be exactly like someone else. everyone is making a big deal about who can sound the most like "dave." its kind of creepy. but when i play, it does sound just like he is sitting in my room playing. no lie. billies and stone aren't hard.

I agree with the last post because it's not hard at all to play the song just like Dave ... the fun part is coming up with your own additions to jams or even the verse or chorus parts. I mean, yes, I love sounding like dave, but it seems like for many of you that there's a very thin line between sounding like Dave and wanting to be dave.

Anybody can play like him after watching enough of the dvd's or watching other videos. It just seems like some of you need to be your own guitar player, stop trying to copy somebody who has already proved himself. Prove YOURSELF

I don't think you can say that you can replace him on any song. You might be able to play it just like he does but there is something about someone playing an original song that noone else can recreate. I know from a few songs that I have written that at parts I don't think anyone can play it like I do. Alot of my songs bring up memories and emotions that fuel my style and form into something unique that noone else can do, and I'm sure that any of you (And I know there are alot of you here) that have written something will agree. So no, I don't think you can replace dave on any of the songs, I'm sure alot of us can play one of the songs just like it is on the CD but that is in no way replacing him on the song.... I know that a few of his songs I can play it just like he playes it, but it still dosnt sound the same.

I agree for the most part, but I'm sure some people here could play simple songs like BEF, Bartender or Proudest Monkey with the full band and nobody would know the difference. Playing solo I don't think anybody can do it.
yeah, and in all honesty, when you are playing for yourself or people who are not knowledgable, it always sounds like you sound just like dave. I remember I thought I learned Billies so I recorded it. I played it back and thought to myself, "Oh dear lord that sounds horrible!!!" but when i was playing it sounded good.

I dont think therre is one song I can play well enough and/or all the way through. :(

Typical Situation probably, its easy. The sound would be different though cause I dont have a nice expensive 2000 dollar Taylor and a amp like him. There are a few songs I can play very well imo, Stand Up and Grey Street are probably the ones I know best next to Stolen Away on 55th and 3rd.
