Newbie on board, sorta....

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hey, thanks for not tearin' me down. I know I'm not great. And I'm getting redundant, but I know "How" to play the songs through and through, I didn't say I could match Dave.

As for being humble. Trust me I am. The reason I picked up a guitar was because my friends were ripping Dave tunes and such and I wanted to be able to play a style of my own and I figured since I've been a Dave fan for most of my life, I'd learn his stuff. And trust me, I'm not up to snuff at all. I know what it's going to take to be great, and one day, hopefully I might be, but until then I know, I've been playing for like a month and a half... I'm not even close to being "good"

Edit: I'll try to get a full copy of Billies up for you just to show I can play it. It won't sound exactly like Dave and it's a helluva a lot more shakey than my Satellite (the verse that is, the rest is, as we all know, cake). But atleast you won't doubt that I know how to play through it.

Once again I'm not trying to belittle your achievments at all man. You've obviously got dedication and drive to learn this stuff. That is awesome. When you've been playing for years, have played with a band and show up at the occasional open jam session, you learn that knowing a song 'through and through' means that you can play it at tempo without fuckups. Anything less than that and everyone on the stage will be giving you the evil eye :)

Maybe it's just a matter of some miscummunication, but I think of knowing a song at the stages you are at as learning the riffs and the changes. When I can play a tune many times over all of the way through without a screw up, then I have it down 'through and through'.

Sorry to come down on you so harshly in the beginning. You showed some balls by posting a clip, I respect that :)

its been said but once again, through and through is completely different from knowing how the songs supposed to be played and being able to play it with rhythm and without messing up, which you are far from, yet if you truly have been playing for a month (which I wont get into) youre farther along then I was at that point. And Im not trying to dispute you again but your billies, jimi thing and sdl cant possibly sound "on" after a month, people play for a year and still cant get those good.

Eh... I won't even try to defend myself as it's useless... Think what you want.

I especially like how people use the argument. "Since I couldn't do it, you couldn't possibly be able to."
