Yep, sounds like a tool.
By studying music in college you get a better chance of being a sucess. If you just go and have no real idea of what your doing and you send demos out to record companys then your most likely not going to get signed unless your amazing.

College is a way to learn theory, learn more about composition, etc........

I think if your planning on being "signed" you damn well gonna have to be amazing either way. Going to Berklee would help you to become a session player but I doubt it would help to make you a "star".
You should also ask yourself if you honestly think being in such a competitive environment would be healthy for musical development.
If you've never formally studied the guitar/singing your chances of getting in might be slim. Although you don't need to audition. They just want proof that you've taken the instrument seriously for a while.

I didn't say anything about money but yes that's true. It also requires a crap loud of knowledge and experiance in a vast array of styles. That's one area where I think intensive study would help.

Oh and what picks does Dave use? Are they better than Tims?

You will have to be amazing either way yea.....but......you would have to be a whole lot better to get signed without any education with it than if you were to go to college for music. And going to college will help a lot with learning more about music composition making your songs sound a lot better. Plus it will teach you a crap load of other useful things, while giving you chance to perform and maybe even get into a band.

If you get signed and you go onstage for your first performance ever than you most likely will screw it up cause of how nervous you are unless you feel comfortable in front of people. But if you get nervous which most people do than its better to have a lot of experience with it.

And why insult me by my grammar? I'm sorry I don't check for spelling and punctuation and all, but seriously its a message board i'm not writing a freaking english paper.

oh, btw. You are more liley to find other talented musicians at a music college (for that reason specifically) rather then meeting a few people at some non-music college. It is a music haven and you are surrounded by other talented musicians that were also accepted there
