I was trying to do my best to squash this topic. I have been playing for about 8 months and have seen as many as five friends from the start of their playing to where they are now years down the road in their own bands. I cannot allow this kid to insult the amount of time, effort and mental anguish it takes to learn the guitar, especially to learn my beloved Dave songs. I was not being negative, rather realistic. I play about 10 hours a week and the huge stretches and tough progressions involved in most DMB tire my hands and arms and I just play 10 hours a week nevermind 35-40 hours. The kid is a joke and he needs to know it. Come on, to just be able to memorize all the notes in those songs would be an anear impossible task to accomplish in a month, nevermind being able to even remotely play the song.
I am not a negative person, I just hate people who lie. I feel like I am doing the kid a favor because maybe he will learn that he will be called out when he lies because if he is capable of making such a ridiculous statement then I am sure he makes many other stupid comments.

Well he needs to qualify what how he plays it. Easiest thing to do is just record it ... Hell, use a tape player and send it to me and I'll make an MP3 of it

I have never spent 5-7 hours in a day doing anything but sleeping ... Even the best guys on this board took a while to play like they do.

So, in conclusion, I say let the guy be. If he's full of it, well he's only hurting himself by living in a fantasy world. If he's telling the truth, then I'd like to hear him play because he's gonna be REALLY good.

and no it isn't impossible, i learned alot of Dave songs my first month, all I did was play guitar, nothing wrong with that. and we already know your point of view, you've posted it about 1000 times, the thing is, no one cares if he's lying or not, we jsut want to hear him. you seem to be taking it to the extreme (if there is an extreme on the message boards).

Secondly, don't believe me if you don't want to!

It seems none of you non-believers read any of my posts... I know the songs. I can play them so it sounds mostly like the song. I fuck up a lot, but so do a lot of you veterans. I'll try to record something so you shut the hell up, but until I feel comfortable enough with what I have laid out, I won't post it. Just forget I said anything and when I want to, I'll let you all hear me play. Just don't attack me with the word impossible, because anything is possible, even if you think you couldn't do it, maybe I can pr someone who has the heart, dedication, and time to do it.
