This is not a competition. This thread is stupid. I haven't the faintest clue why it's lasted so long. They both play wonderfully and have different styles. No one's "better" than the other. I mean, what the hell kind of question is that, anyway? It's just immature and ignorant, frankly.

Try enjoying their music and not dwelling on who is "better", because you'll never come to a conclusion anyway. They don't care. They just enjoy writing and playing music.

Mayer IS hands down a better guitarist than Dave. Do I like him? FUCK NO! Do I enjoy listening to him play? NO lol, do I like Dave? Like isn't the word, do I enjoy listening to him play? YES. Remember we had that discussion about whether John was better than Ben Harper? And we all decided that while john is better guitarist, Ben Harper kicks a lot more ass because his songs are truly powerful and moving and John Mayer is just a guitarist that knows his theory...that's the same thing here. And yeah, Dave IS hiding a lot of his skills...he has to be better than he shows, he's been playing since he was 9 for fuck's sake! I saw the Charlie Rose interview with him...he doesn't even consider himself a guitarist. He considers himself a song writer and a performer... so having this fight abotu who's better is silly and if Dave saw you guys doing it he'd just laugh. He doesn't need to be defended, he knows he's not the best guitarist...and we all know that NOONE is the best. There is always someone better. John is better in that technical sence, and he plays tough chords too just like dave...even tougher...so what? He's a snotnosed bastard, fuck him! Dave kicks ass even when he plays the simplest of shit.
