Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
Does anyone know what Tim plays during the prechorus of Spaceman? I can see his hands but they move far too fast!
Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
after watching a video on youtube i think this works better for the outro. it has the slide that you can hear on the album version.
Code: Select all
Outro

B|--3--3--3--3--3---0---0---0--3--3---3-----3---3--|

I can't figure it out for the life of me. I really want to know because it sounds so sexy. The 30 minute Big Whiskey documentary on Hulu has a good video of Tim playing it in studio for anyone who would like to try and help us get this figured out.Beyer413 wrote:Does anyone know what Tim plays during the prechorus of Spaceman? Hmmm, I think you are right. When I first looked, I thought I saw his hand not move too far from the 3rd fret, but I had it stuck in my head he was playing a chord in which his hand had to be higher up the neck. Playing the single not on the 5th and not having to move your hand to hit the 3rd fret makes sense. Thanks, I'll update itTheGameV30 wrote:sorry, my bad. i didn't notice the updated chorus. i do believe dave plays the bridge a little differently based on the Today Show video. i believe this is along the lines of what he's playing. let me know if anyone else thinks this is right.
Code: Select all

i think you nailed the slide part. just one thing, though...that fifth chord sounds like he hits the open E string as the droning note instead of the A string on the second fret.Jagon14 wrote:after watching a video on youtube i think this works better for the outro. it has the slide that you can hear on the album version.
an earlier tab had that chord as:
Code: Select all
e--3
B--3
G--0
D--0
A--2
E--0
Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
Does anyone have a tab of Tim's solo during Dive In?
Much appreciated!

Yes, Dave plays 2 guitar solos on the album. He plays the solo on Funny the Way It Is and on Dive In.DJR wrote:really?

Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
Here's my shot for write a song. Obviously not the whole thing though.
Code: Select all
Write A Song
Dave Matthews Band
Drop D & Capo on 7th fret
All frets relative to capo
Intro (3X)
E:-------------------------
B:-------------------------
G:-------------------------
D:--0--3--3/5--3--3/5--3--0
A:--0--3--3/5--3--3/5--3--0
D:--0--3--3/5--3--3/5--3--0
After second time, play the verse part once, then finish the intro.
:----------------------------
:----------------------------
:---------------2------------
:--0--2--4--5------5--4--2--0
:----------------------------
:----------------------------
When Dave starts singing, back into this again, with what sounds like two chords added with it, but I could be wrong:
:------------------------------------
:------------------------------1----3
:---------------2--------------0----2
:--0--2--4--5------5--4--2--0--2---(0)
:------------------------------3---(0)
:----------------------------------(0)
And back into the 0-2-4 etc. That D-Chord (or what would be a D in standard tuning) sounds nice with the 3 top strings open, but I can’t tell if that’s how Dave is playing it. Hope this helps!
