jkanter wrote: Well, I'm finally back...I'll respond to all other posts later but as for this one.....I think we may be talking about different video's Jason. The one I was refering to was the "In the Guitar Style of Dave Matthews Band" by Curt Mitchell. That Curt Mitchell guy is just TERRIBLE. As for the guy on eBay right now selling those CD's. His stuff is very good, by all means. He posted those couple clips and they looked real good. Just to let you know, this idea has been in the works since before that guy debuted his stuff on eBay. No big deal though and my idea is not original in any way....it's just one that I thought might be a big help to the DMB Music Community. It combines solid guitar playing along with some excellent tabs with A GREAT medium: DVD. Anyway, peace all...Amsterdam was amazing....lata
I unfortunately bought that crappy Curt Mitchell thing. The only thing that I found was cool is that he had Timmy's parts on Two Step on there. I actually would be interested in this, but as you said you threw those vids on the site just real quick...thos sufficed for me. Gave me a general idea of where to go with it...and then I figured out the rest. I commend what you are doing. I dont know where ya live, but I would actually happily help ya with the project if you lived close. :) Im in VA. I have always loved your site and used it very often. Thanks for your contributions to helping my playing and everyone else out there too. I have spread the news of your web site to my friends. I practice guitar, playing online in yahoo chat in a room called the "Acoustic Pond" due to the fact that there is not a DMB room there in yahoo chat. But I know I am often talking about your site in there to people that here me play some DMB stuff and ask where'd I find the tab for that and bam...there's http://www.dmbtabs.com :) Thanks a lot jkanter. :)

DMB DVD

Hey put me on the list of people wanting your DVD. I have found your site to be very informative and helpful in learning the style of my favorite artist. I have purchased a DVD called Guitar Method in the style of the DMB with Curt Mitchell. Although it has helped I will give you a few of my gripes so as to avoid repeating them. First of all he gives no indication what song he is showing you, two it is only the riffs (nice but if you want to learn an entire song your SOL). Second he shows you how he plays it, then shows you the tab without any hints or clues as to what fingers are doing what, as you said Dave has the ability to mute and play any string it seems he wants, so that is important and it gets old going back and forth between the video and the tabs to figure it out. So an idea would be to have kind of like that bouncing ball type caption that shows you the tab as you play them.

Thanks for all your time and energy on this site, it is greatly appreciated.

Matt

That is a good suggestion Arete.

I also think it would be great if there was a section in the beginning that discussed or showed Daves techniques like different muting styles and the famous "strum picking" that has been coming up in conversation so much lately.

This video sounds awesome. I've been struggling through DMB songs for about a year or so now. The main problem I've found is not having someone show me what is actually necessary to play the songs exactly right. This DVD will help out a ton. Hook it up.

yeah i got that curt mitchel DVD when i first got into dave, it was horrible, i put that in a while back ago, just to see it again, and its just pathetic, he destroyed song after song, TRIPPING BILLIES was pitiful, i recomend buying the curt mitchel dvd for entertainment, and yes the dvd is a good idea, i was thinking about that kinda with a tim thing at one time, but i cant afford to do it right now, unless it was low quality, and i dont want that, then id look like that curt mitchel metalhead freak.
lmfao.
