So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Unless you have an actual reason to dig up old threads, please stop. It dilutes the forum and prevents people who need help from getting it.

Or he could re-post and get everyone all over his shit for not searching. Isn't that what the search function is for? The dude's new and he's searching and posting on topics that he's never taken part in before, and others are taking part as well. How about getting on gcom's ass for doing it without sparking conversation? What's with the double standard?

He did this to about 10 threads and said nothing more than the equivalent of "yeah". And Elliot's threads in Dave's Guitar were locked and we conversed via PM. Thanks for trying to backseat-moderate, though. Much appreciated.

I wasn't trying to "backseat moderate", just making an observation (about the shit people get for
not searching). He also did more than say "yeah" in 10 threads including
this one. Whatever. Mods are always right. *bows down to mods' omnipotence*

Did his post really add ANYTHING that wasn't already covered in this thread though?

c'mon guys, chill out. its not like theres been any facts posted in this thread, its all pretty much opinion, if he wants to post his then why not? he followed all the rules and i found this thread pretty interesting... no harm no foul.
with gcomm diggin up all his old beefs with ranting (which served no purpose other than entertainment) i dont see why this guy can just add his insight on daves knowledge of theory, just seems silly... peace

i think he understands most of theory, take tripping billies; unless he just put his fingers in places and liked them, then he obviously knows theory to make the nature intro/chorus chord (the stretchy one). Its still A Major, with a 1,3,5 to a Amaj 9 , with 1,2,3, if u know a bit of theory ull understand. i think dave knows what he's doing and just plays it off

As a classical performance major in a New York music school, I can speak from experience with regard to knowing theory.
I find that sometimes knowing TOO much can hinder the writing process. Once you get all bogged down with the Italian 6th, Neopolitan and tritone-substitution shit, it becomes hard to listen to something for how you LIKE it without basing the judgement on if it is correct theoretically.
I am sure Dave knows what he is doing, as it would be impossible to just STUMBLE into even the progressions he uses a lot, but I doubt that he is ever thinking "I got a major 7th here and I need to resolve it to a minor ninth."

He did have a guitar teacehr back in the day. The same guy that tried to sue Dave for "stealing" his material. It is what #41 is written about. At least that is what Ants says.

That's an interesting take on the interpretation of #41.
