Ah, after listening again, it seems you are correct. eh, what are ya gonna do.i-am-me wrote:Pat, watching your ants video, i noticed one thing. In the chorus, the end i mean (the switch from A to D) it seems too fast. there should be a little pause between that, and you go straight into it. listen to some more versions and you'll see what i'm saying, i think. but its not that bad...

I just looked at the first ten seconds of ants, and you just got your pinky sticking up pretty good. It might be because you have insanely long fingers that you need to.dmbguitar718 wrote:I'm kinda getting what you're saying, but can you give a specific time in one of the vids?i like tictacs wrote:I hate to be a bitch, but I've noticed one thing about the videos. I'd watch what you do with your fingers, when you're not using them to mute you stick them straight in the air. I don't know if you are exaggerating the movements to make it easier to see what you're doing, but it is much easier to just lift them off and not waste time sticking them straight up. It slows you down because your fingers have to travel farther.
That's how we bassists roll, anyway. I could be wrong about you, you seem really damn good and I've benefitted from pretty much all of these videos.

yeah, that was one of the first batches i made. i should have made a little more exact, but, again, what are ya gonna do.Kukini wrote:We talked earlier Pat, and I love your vids, but I watched the Say Goodbye one, it seems you're muting way more that you should. And don't you play the 5X7 part a little longer?

the only difference between the dave version of this song and the howie
day version is the way that hosie voices the chords, particularly the
Em7 chord
dave's pattern
c5/a
chords e--3----2----0----0-----0-----------------

really nice if you play it)

this is howies chord progression for the verse...he plays slight
variations of this through out the song...but this is generally the
idea

the solo!- basically this improvisation on what dave plays during the
sax solos in the real song. howie plays the basic chord progression
but, again uses different chord voicings.
here aree the chords..the rhythm is not there but..jsut listem to the part
and you should be able to get it. use alot of muting.
e--2-/-3-5--------7--------7---10-7-6-5-------------
b--2-/-3-5--------7--------7h8-8--8-7-7-------------
g--4-/-5-5-strum--7--strum-7---7--7-6-5-strum-------

Do you have a clip of you playing Warehouse? I'd love to hear it if you do.

That's not that bad. Yeah, there were some timing issues in there, but the overall phrase was there. Do you play professionally Pat?dmbguitar718 wrote:well, the closest thing i did was the warehouse passion intro. beware though, it is extremely messy. (really)

Yeah, it was in one take, the transition is god-awful, among other things. I did it a while ago.SgtM wrote:That's not that bad.
