Who can play the entire song?
(:
When I say I can play a Dave song, I mean that I can play the full song, repeated as many times as I like, from beginning to end (including intros and outros), while singing in sync, drunk/high, and spinning with my eyes closed.
This does not apply to any other artists that I can cover, only Dave (:

i used to learn a lot of riffs, and know some of those songs i learned i dont care to learn the whole song. like burn one down, alone, and another lonely day all by ben harper i can play intro/verse, but now i have no desire to learn those choruses. ive learned that also ive been having more trouble with the chord chorus of dave then the verse riffs. like satellite choruse i had some problem with (thanks pat) but now i got it down.
anways, for the question, if i can play the majority of the song, ill usually say i can play it. if i can play the verse and the choruse of a song, but i cant play (or never really tried to) the 15 second bridge, ill still say i can play it.
and by the way, for the stone, the hardest part for me is not have my pinky get too tired to play.

For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again
i'll admit it guys....i cant play a whole song all the way through (yet). mainly because (not trying to make excuses) i work full time and then some, i go to school part time, and i have a six y/o son that consumes alot of my free time. so i guess what i'm saying is that i dont have but a few hours a week to practice. i am trying to learn Granny all the way through and so far i'm doing pretty good. i've only really been playing for a little over a year and i know one day i will be able to play something all the way through. yada yada yada.....

Hey all
I started playin bass first. I figured it'd be easy enough to pick up some dave songs on bass... nope. lol. So I practiced my ass off until I could get every little fill that stefan does. Once I did that.. I grabbed a guitar and learned the songs. I can proudly say I know damn near every song, note for note. The ones I've pretty much didn't learn were mother father and sleep to dream her. Other than that, I got em down perfectly.

hail to the king, baby. best. ending. line. ever.
i don't know some of dave's songs, and others give me trouble, but i could get them down if i really cared enough to seriously put my mind to it. the one i simply can't get down is the stone. i can play the chorus though...! but since we're talking whole songs here...

have you heard letting go? looked at a tab? its not hard, that recording i posted wasnt meant to be right, or even me paying attention to what i was playing, it was to show the sound of the guitar, if you read, it said that.dmbguitar718 wrote:oh come on.filmdude100cms wrote:if i say i can play it, i can play it

Yes, I've heard Letting Go. One of my favorite compositions of all time. Have I seen the tab? Yes. Hell, I've tried learning it before, but put it on the backburner because my skills aren't good enough. There is no way that someone that has been playing guitar for a few years can determine Letting Go "not hard". I'm sorry, it is a hard song, no matter how you look at it.filmdude100cms wrote:have you heard letting go? looked at a tab? its not hard, that recording i posted wasnt meant to be right, or even me paying attention to what i was playing, it was to show the sound of the guitar, if you read, it said that.dmbguitar718 wrote:oh come on.filmdude100cms wrote:if i say i can play it, i can play it

And even if the recording you posted "wasn't meant to be right" why the hell would you do that? "Oh, here's a clip of the song, but I'm not playing to my potential. I'm purposely playing it badly." Why wouldn't you just play to your ability? Or why not choose a song that you know how to play?
God damn do I have a stick up my ass today.

normaly i like you, but as ive said at least 3 times, it was to show the sound of the guitar, after a day of traveling alot, runnin around all over the place, and you really are tired of playing guitars even though you just got a new one, you might not play to the best of your abilities, oh well, praisedave wrote:when you have a stick up your ass you're nicer than half the people around here on a normal day.dmbguitar718 wrote:Yes, I've heard Letting Go.
