the reason she is amazing is because she has an eight octave range without using falsetto

Err... eight octave? That seems quite high. Only two male singers ever have had a four-octave range - Elvis Presley and Vince Gil (just a little bit of trivia someone told me a long time ago, not sure of the validity of it). Eight seems a little out of reach.

If Elvis had 4 octaves, then Jeff Buckley must have had 58.

Here's a thought.

If the lead singer for Rush sang in falsetto
Would he break glass?

That man has an unusualy high voice, in his NORMAL singing. Rush is great, though :) .

Also, for the wail, my voice wasn't at it's best. So, I just did a quick take, without emotion, or length, because of my voice at the time. I was just posting it to show I can do it, and hit the note. The hard one for me is Watchtower. I need some practice for that one before I get it. Bartender, on the other hand, is great for my voice and I love to wail on that one.

Thanks. That wasn't clear until you explained it. Makes perfect sense now.

On the average, men have lower vocal ranges, and women have higher ranges, but the length of their ranges are generally similar. (i.e., women can sing high notes that men can't reach except with a falsetto, and most men can reach low notes that few women can reach). Note, these are all generalizations, and there are obvious exceptions. But generally, this is the case.

edit: arg, i was really pissed off when i wrote this line down here. please ignore it if you read it.

usually its when you hit high pitches that you cant with normal vocal cord use. when dave hits those high notes using falsetto, the sound is being formed with very little vibration of the vocal folds...

And thus less power than a note within one's range.
