Dave retired the 714?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

My god he probably has 3 to 12 or so (guestimating) guitar technicians that travel with him that are behind the scenes ready to have his guitars in any tune he wishes them to be in. He's prolly just fiddling around with his guitars to see which one sounds the best with the song, considering it's new. Dino was right, don't think so much into it.

EDIT: my bad, it was kuhini who said that, not dino
he has monk
haha i just went to piss, and i was running back to the comp to say that he has several technicians besides monk, his main obviously, but i was too late, damn

EDIT: sorry about my edits, but i'm slowly putting thoughts together ... what i meant was, other than monk he has several other guitar techs in the background doing little stuff like simply tuning.
no chance

Dave obviously has many different variations of the guitars he uses for the song. 714, 914, 914 w/ capo... I have a 914, and I've played a 714... I dont know how it plays into Daves decision on which to use, but the main difference between the two is that the Cedar top on the 714 gives it a more "bassy", full sound. The 914's Engelmann spruce top gives it a more sharp, crisp sound, compared to the 714. Just my .02.. for what it's worth.

I'm waiting for him to strap on the chet for old times, anyone else? He's got to own a few. The Taylor's blend too much with the bands sound.

Haha, I was just reading an old post about the Chet. Haven't seen that bad boy since '00. I was lucky enough to see it's last known full-show performance on 7.5.00. I love the Taylors, but bringing out the Chet again would be a refreshing change. And you're right, definitely adds a different sound.
