More than a few. The stone really is not that difficult. Maybe for an newer player. It may seem a little difficult when you first learn it. It is not too hard to play it like dave, if you can mute good. Dont forget that daves songs are not really that difficult when compared to other acoustic songwriters in his genre. Practice, practice.Grandpagotgame wrote:I bet that only a few people on this site can play the Stone like Dave does, and I mean muting everything except for that one note. In my opinion, the Stone intro is very difficult. I can play it, but just not like Dave does.
I know this is about dave intros, but Mayers intro to Man on the Side, know as LENNY, on the AnyGiven Thursday record is definatly a challenging guitar piece for an intro. Ok peaceout.

lenny is actually a srv tune mayer just improvised but yer that is difficult to play.
im having trouble with the stone at the moment, i can play the intro but the verse is giving some grief, ive only been playing ayear though and ive only been playing matthews tunes for about a week. im happy though that i can play my favourite tunes of his. i love it when i look at some thing and say "ill never be able to play that" and then one day you just pick up the guitar and you can play it, its such a great feeling. that happend to me with hendrix's bold as love i never thought i could play it but now i can so im really happy.

i cant get the rhythm to satellite, thats tough for me. the stone i can get down, but my fingers get tired among the first verse. osw is easy for me. warehouse is recogniziable but not dave like
For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

OSW intro is cake to me now. I can proabably play it in my sleep. I've just played the hell out of it. My Satellite intro is pretty accomplished. I can play The Stone (picking, but not strumming/muting, yet). Like Mr. Jones, Warehouse is recognizable, but not yet Dave like. I get a bit closer each time, though.
