Isn't Dreaming Tree in 7/8? I really don't know anything about time signatures, but I thought I read that somewhere.

I also think the Stone is in 6/4
The verse is in 5/4.
Verse is 4/4 I gurantee. The strumming is on the a of 1 and 3. I learned to play this song on the drums trust me
When I count with the music, my hits are on 1-3-5 2-4. It works perfectly, but I guess it doesn't make a difference.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

YNK changes to 5/4 at one point I believe

and 6/8 amnd 3/4 aren't the same, they are similar but not the same hard to differentiate at times.

Let me know of the part so I can check it out.

And its just two measure for everyone in the 6/8, 3/4. Im just saying 3/4 instead of 6/8 because the guitar part fits 3/4 as two full measures. I personally prefer two bar phrases instead of one big one (not that is isnt really that big)

Yeah true. It is eaiser at times to count 3/4 then 6/8. i think it depends more on the genre

well, I was just doing it for the song. Like Kit Kat Jam. The bridge is just downbeats for a measure, rest for a measure. If I were writing that out on a staff, it would look kinda wierd if I had 6 eiths.

and my bad, i thought the prechourus of YNK was a few bars of 5/8 and ends on a bar of 3/4th. not 5/4th like i previously mentioned

ok i have a question...the reprise outro of the Last Stop, like on LIC...is that have a different time sig? cuz its got that main thing by leroi but it seems to me to repeat again a little later than you would expect in 4/4...or does it overlap the measures?

do time measures make sense to everyone else on these boards? i have no idea to tell different time measures and i just try to play along with the recording to get the time down. should i learn time measures of a song before i try to play the song?
For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

I would love to know how to understand this better. The hardest part I have with most songs isnt the finger work, its always hearing and mimicing the rhythym.

The strumming pattern , given the note vaule, will determine what time signature it is in. For instance, where the pattern repeats its self will either be a phrase, or it will be a measure. Take #41, the verse (every part in the song actually) is made up of 4 chords that are played a measure at a time. However, it doesnt repeat until 4 bars, so that will be a phrase. The Stone intro, on the other hand only takes a measure to repeat.

The reprise is in 4/4. It is just a two measure phrase. The bass notes change on the 1 and 2 of the first measure. Rest on 3, and the next two bass ntoes hit on 4 and 1 of the next measure. Rest for 3 beats.

Probably, but I dont listen to his music enough to say that ALL songs are that way. Given his simplicity of his songs, and he is playing in a pop setting, he most likely is playing in 4/4.
