Dave Matthews, better with just Tim? Does he need the band?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

i voted DMB because of the energy. i simply cant get into most of the d&t songs because there is no carter. this might be because i heard all the dmb stuff first, but still, most songs seem like they need carter and in some cases leroi or boyd or stefan or butch.

d&t obviously showcases dave and tims talent as guitarists, but dmb showcases the bands talent working together and obviously the solos showcase their respective artist.

just whichever you like more i guess, i love the energy that carter and the guys bring to the stage

DMB, definitely. I love Tim's soloing and stuff, but a DMB album I can listen to all the way through, whereas D&T I generally just browse songs and enjoy the music. It doesn't make me sing along or start bouncing. As far as live, the same thing.

Although I would, never, ever encourage D&T to quit playing together. They sound fucking fantastic.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

I don't think there's a feeling in the world that can beat sitting within the first 5 rows of the full band. D&T is great, but I don't know if they could make you toss all of your chairs into a pile and grab the dozen strangers around you and start dancing together...different vibes.

Just as a side note, I don't think we would have ever heard much of Dave Matthews if he hadn't hooked up with the band...

You're probably right on that last comment there. I mean, look at Crash, its a truly rounded cd that almost everyone can take something from, but its all band. I don't think the music would have appealed to such a broad crowd of people if it was just acoustic..

With that said, I'll take acoustic over full band anyday, but thats probably just because I think acoustic is underrated by the general public.

DMB is underrated by the general public

And, half of you would have never heard of TR had you not been into dave.

Don't even try to deny it

hahahha, DMB is not underrated. i have come to find out so many people like them in my school. Tim Reynold is just one of those prodigies that never get well-recognized. I mean how many people know Satriani the crazy rock guitarist. The public doesn't play musical instruments. If you play violin, you'll know about violinist. if you play banjo, you know great banjo players. we play guitars, tim is up there in our list.

You cant really compare the both. There both nasty things to watch, dave and tim are sick acoustic show and dmb is the sickest live performance either way there nasty and shouldnt be compared. Thats my thoughts at least
