*******Official Tim Reynolds Parts Thread******** (Nancies)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

^^^^ I agree somewhat...unless you have your heart set on being in a cover band, it's probably better to do more improv than playing exactly what Tim plays, especially in solos.

However learning stuff people like Tim play is never time spent badly if you ask me. IMO that's where you get your best chops from. Victor Wooten said he spent hours upon hours learning everything all of his favorite bass players played, but also learning McCartney's vocal melodies, drum rudiments, etc.

Figuring out other people's stuff is a good learning tool I guess is what I'm trying to say.

My reason for wanting to know how he plays it.. So I can stem off from there and try and figure out some of my own licks for it.

Does anybody have a tab for Tim's last solo on ants marching from the Prism Coffee House? It's very different from luther college and storytellers. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

I've got something I just made up for the LIOG long jam:

The notes in brackets can be NOT played. And use your index finger to mute all other strings(to get a clearer sound of what you are playing)

You can strum it when the jam gets fast and fingerpick it with fingers 1 and 2 (and ring if you play the ones in brackets) of the right hand when it slows down.

Code: Select all

Long jam start / end:

E:----(5)---(4)--(2)-----(0)-(0)----(0)- <-(1)
B:-----7-----5----3-------0---0------2-- <-(4on7&2;2=3&5;3on2)
G:-----7-----6----4-------0---0------2-- <- (3; 2on2)
D:---------------------------------------
A:---------------------------------------
E:---------------------------------------

Long jam alternate: (same fingering as above, may take a little while to get the final chord change)

e:---(7)---(2)---(0)---------------
B:----8-----3-----2------------(3)--
G:----9-----4-----2-------2-2---4--
D:------------------------4-4---5-- <---3
A:---------------------------------
E:---------------------------------

Please tellme how you like it!!

for anyone else interested, dodo licks:

Code: Select all

e----------------------------
b----------------------------
g----5-3-2----2h3-3-------
d-----------3---------------
a----------------------------
e----------------------------

Ascending.
e-------------------------------------------------------------
b---------------------------------------------------------------
g-------------------------------------------------10---------------
d-------7h8-7-8h10--8--10--10s12-10-12----------7h8-------
a---8------------------------------------------------8----------
e-------------------------------------------------------------------

Descending
e-------------------------------------------------------------
b---------------------------------------------------------------
g-------------------------------------------------------------
d-------7h8--7h8--7--5h7--5--3h5-3----------------------
a---8------------------------------------------5--3--1-----------------
e-------------------------------------------------------------------

And while timmy plays the descending line, trey sometimes backs it up with this:
e------------------------------------------------------------------
b---------------------------------------------------------------11\-----
g-------------------------------------------------10--------10----------
d-------7h8-7-8h10--8--10--10s12-10-12-------12----------------
a---8--------------------------------------------------------------
e-------------------------------------------------------------------

Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"
