*******Official Tim Reynolds Parts Thread******** (Nancies)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

It sounds good. It's a good variation. Is it from a specific version?

I don't know all of his fills but some fills I do that I got from Tim are:

Code: Select all

e |-----7-7h9-----
B |-7h9----------
G |-----------6h7--
D |-----------7---
A |--------------
E |--------------

e |---------------
B |------------2h4--
G |------------2----
D |------------2----
A |-----2-2h4-----
E |-2h4-----------

e |----------------
B |---------------
G |------4-4h6-6h7---
D |-4h6---------7--
A |---------------
E |---------------
You can also throw in that G# slide too. Do that before the A chord and hammer on.

Code: Select all

e |----
B |----
G |----
D |----
A |-11\
E |----

Or

e |----
B |----
G |-13\
D |----
A |----
E |----

That SMTS is pretty off I think...check this out:

Most of the time he plays mostly what Dave is, except for the last like beat.

Code: Select all

------5------------------------------------------------
------5------------------------------------------------
------5--4/6-------------------------------------------
-------------7---5-7~~---------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
-3/5---------------------------------------------------
And than the fill that Tim plays that mimics roi and boyd is:

Code: Select all

------------------------------5-3---------------------------
-----------------------------------5-3----------------------
------------------------OR-------------5-2------------------
---7-5------------------------------------------------------
--------7-5-------------------------------------------------
-------------8-5--------------------------------------------
I just looked at the first few posts and noticed it was sorta off, so someone may have pointed this out already. The other part you guys have tabbed out seems OK. When I'm playing with my "Dave", I usually just mimic the F9 and G9 thing Dave does

Code: Select all

------5-------------------------------
------5-------------------------------
------5---4/6-------------10----------
---------------7------5---7--------7--
--------------------3-----x------5----
-3/5--------------1------/10---3------

Sorry to double post :P Here are some 41 fills I do...

Verse:

Code: Select all

----5------7------7----(5)---
----5------7------8-----7----
----5------7------7-----7----
----5------7------9-----7----
----7------9---7--7---5-5----
--5-5----7-7--(0)------------
I usually play those kinda rhythmically so the transistion to the next part is that much cooler...

Where Dave starts yelling before the chorus:

Code: Select all

--0---0---0---0-------0--0--0--0-------------
--1---3---8---7-------1--3--0--3-------------
--0---0---0---7--OR---0--2--0--2-------------
--2---4---9---7-------2--4--0--0-------------
--0---2---7---5-------0--2--2----------------
----------------------------0----------------
Just play some form of those chords...I usually arpeggiate them, but play around and see what sounds cool.

Sometimes during that part Tim will play (I think?) Boyd's part. I don't know what he plays exactly, but I pretty much play inversions of chords so that these notes are in the top of your chord, but with the root of the chord progression over it:

Code: Select all

--7p5-5-3--3-------------
-------------------------
-------------------------
-------------------------
-------------------------
-------------------------

Chorus:

Code: Select all

----3-----2------3----0------------------------
----3-----3------1----1---------8---7----------
----0-----2------0----0------------------------
----0-----0------2----2-----//5---4----------
----2----------3-3--3-3------------------------
--3-3---2-2------------------------------------
If you haven't heard Tim do that fill at the end, it starts on the upbeat of beat 2, and is played as eighth notes, with the upbeat of beat 4 being a rest. Sorry if that isn't worded understandably enough...I'm not good at explaining music with written word lol.

Hope that helps!
