It wouldnt surprise me if the new version of DMB tabs never makes it either. I put that new site link in my favorite and check it everyday. It still says....will you be a part of it? no....no one will be a part of it, its not ganna happen
but yes, the new site is coming out... I apologize that i've been in the hospital, but there was not much I could do about that. also, all of the information about the DVD has been clearly posted in this thread - DMB management did not give us permission and it would thus be illegal to produce it.

Re: DMBTABS.COM INSTRUCTIONAL DVD
shit yes I'd be intersted, what songs would be going on it?jkanter wrote:Well, it was going to get out eventually I would think...........but here goes
I am in the process of making a DMB Instructional Guitar DVD. This DVD is being done in full hardcore fashion. I have an investor that is putting $5,000 into the project, a business manager and a patent attorney to deal with copyright issues. The project costs around $5,000 to do(with how I am doing it) and there are def. copyright issues that arise in selling DMB material. I am currently in contact with DMB Management in order to get the proper permission, and pay the right royalties, so that I can sell this DVD without any legal implications.
Here's how the DVD is going to go:
I am buying 2 DV Digital cameras. 1 is going to be focused on the fretboard(like the video's on the site) and the other is going to be focused on me completly showing the chord changes along with the strumming. I am also buying a pair of Oktava MK012 microphones(list $250 each), a clip on mic(for voice) and a mixer. The audio will be run into the computer for highest quality and recorded then synched to the video. You will also be able to switch between the 2 angles of video on the fly if you need to see different angles for different spots.
I know my video's on the site aren't perfect. All of them were done very fast in the middle of hectic times at school. I got them done fast so you guys could have them but they are by NO means the highest quality guitar playing that I could have done(as Jason pointed out). Each song will be played to as close as perfection as I can. I will be playing each part over and over until it is perfect.
The DVD will include 25 songs being played. I am going to be doing each song in sections(like on the site) to allow the maximum number of song to be put onto the DVD. Each song will be a diff chapter and each section will be marked. Although it would be nice to be able to play the whole song through, it isn't feasable to be able to do that and put a lot of songs on the DVD. With the new additions to the site will be each song broken down to how many times to play each section like, Verse x2....Chorus x4....Breakdown x1....Verse x2 blah blah blah. That part of the site will help with people who can't hear when to play what...kinda an extension of the DVD.
Each section will also have an A-B visual cue. For those of you that do know know what the A-B of a DVD player does is that it lets you set a point A....then set a point B. The DVD player then LOOPS those specific points until you tell it to stop. The visual cue's will tell you when to set the A and then when to set the B. This will provide for maximum learning capabilites of each section. You can also play each section back in slow motion(for EITHER angle...basically whichever angle you are viewing) which is somethign that can't really be done with the DivX video's.
This DVD is also being produced as professionally as possible. I am buying over a $1,000 worth of DVD production software. Once the DVD is mastered by me and my brother on our Apple computer.....it is being sent to a DVD replication house and PROFESSIONALLY pressed. This means no crappy DVD-R that won't work in your old DVD player. It is going to have a full Color DVD clam-shell case(like any of your video games/DVD's) and the DVD will have a color front also printed on it. This in itself it the most costly part of the entire process but fully worth it to provide the highest quality product worthy of the dmbtabs.com name.
I will also be providing a nice printable version of all the tabs(so they aren't split like they sometimes are). I wanted to provide a book to go along with the DVD but that is a whole other process which is a little too expensive right now.
All of this will be available to you guys for only $20. There will be shipping and handling but I will be accepting pre-orders 3 weeks before the DVD gets pressed. All pre-orders will have free shipping and handling(saves about $5) and there might be a couple other incentives.
Anyway, I guess in putting this out I can get some feedback on whether or not people would be interested in buying it. I am going to be getting 1,000 DVD's pressed initially and hope that enough people like it. Should people really like the idea, I will be releasing a volume 2, 3.....etc so all DMB songs can be learned as easiest as possible.
Once I finalize all the details with DMB Management(should be soon) the DVD will take about 2.5-3 months to make and get pressed. I know it's annoying to have to wait that long and I don't want to either, but I want to make sure this is done to the highest quality as possible and will not be cutting corners to get it out faster.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ALL THINK...Would you buy this??? Is it worth it for me to do it??? Any feedback would be amazing.....peace all
