Is John Mayer a better guitar player than Dave Matthews?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

even he says half of them are just babble to go over the music, this has been said in interviews, he doesn't get why people put them in such reverence, biggest example of this is the lillywhite sessions...people were having the lyrics engraved on their gravestone's when half of what was literally mumbled wasn't even intelligible. it's absurd.

So why are you so passionate about babble? That's absurd...

OK, so what does that have to do with anything? Especially with what Dave's lyrics mean or what his guitar skill is?

You're not really supporting anything, you are arguing. You are coming to a Dave Matthews Band message board, where everyone who has registered is a fan, and trying to get a rise out of people. In no way are you actually trying to pursuade anyone; there is no reason to try. Here's an idea...go to a John Mayer room, and talk to them about why he is better than Dave, and then maybe you can have a real discussion.

mayer owns dave melodically, listen to the way the lyrics go with his songs, he crafts the songs from top to bottom far better than dave does, dave is a shot in the dark, a hit or miss, but melody I don't think has ever been a huge strongpoint of dave's overall music.
