Typical Situation picking

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

No, I tried doing it at the union/terrace a few times. The problem is that no one seems to give a damn. Most are half drunk, too. Also, if you aren't being really loud or trying to be outlandishly funny, they don't give a damn. I gave up on that, and some really great talented acoustic fingerpickers, they are completely ignored.

The open mic I do is on State Street. It's in a small cafe, steep and brew. It's small, but the people who host it are part of a band that are REALLY good (check out stonefloatrecords.com). Sometimes there are 3 people there (including Jeff and Adam from Stone Float), sometimes 12. The point is that everyone is treated fairly, and everyone respects the person onstage. Also, anything is allowed at this open mic, skits, music, poetry, whatever you want to do, it's yours. It's just really good, and I have been there every friday for the past 4 months. Adam and Jeff know me well, and I know them, and Adam does some damn good newage flow poetry (that's his part in the band, too, spoken word, and it fits so well with the music).

It's so fun, and there are some damn good musicians and poets and other things people do (someone does recordings and brings in his labtop, and some of his stuff is pretty damn good). I am always there, and made sure my work never schedules me so I never miss a date.

hey, if you want to join one friday, ever, it's on state street, firday, 8:00-10:30, steep and brew. :)
Yes, I am in a box
