from what I saw @ the Woodlands show last weekend and various YouTube videos...
On the verse Dave slides further up the neck right after Em...I don't have a raised B guitar so I'm playing on Capo 7 and can't reach up as far- this verse is probably wrong but sounds okay, and the prechorus and chorus are solid. The timing on the chorus is a bit tricky- check out the partial 4.19 video on YouTube to get it right when you play it.

Seven, by Dave Matthews Band
Tab by Adam Hanley (adwolf16@aol.com)
Not sure if this is in standard or drop D; even though its lowest note is a low E, it still may be in drop D because that E can be muted more easily if it's fretted than if it's open. This tab is in drop D, but just subtract 2 from every note on the low E string if you want to play it standard. I also put the time signatures for each section in parentheses for those interested. And, as with Why I Am, I'm just going to lay out the main riffs and then show how they're pieced together at the end.
Intro riff (4/4):

a--5--5--8-7--5--5--8-7--5--5--8-7--5--5--8-7--|

Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
II'll throw this out there for Squirm.
First DMB tab I've tried (haven't had the need, everything else has already been posted), so it's a little shaky, but I'll throw it out there because this song is so good.
The verse seems pretty simple, I won't call it perfect, but it's close.
Not positive about the chorus. I tried a few "Dave chords" and they sound okay...
As for the jam, I wish you guys good luck!

Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
I edited my Why I Am tab after watching a good quality video from the New Orleans Jazz Fest. They actually zoom in on Dave's guitar after he sings the "Groogrux King" line, so this should be pretty accurate now.

Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
Garntd-
What fingering are you using for the intro/verse on You & Me? Do you use fingers 1 and 2 for --42- so that you can just put fingers 3 and 4 down for --54-? That method wasn't coming naturally to me, so I thought I'd ask.
Nice job with the tab.
Does anybody know what the main page is not being updated but the board and site are still active? Everything is easy to find. Just curious.

Re: Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
Alligator Pie riff? Couldn't find it by searching. Apologize if I missed it. Other BW tabs are great - thank all of you.
Big Whiskey Tabs (so far)
Code: Select all
Alligator Pie
Riff / Verse / Jam / Etc (based on Scenes From Big Whiskey, on Hulu):
Raised B tuning:
E|------------------------------------------|
B|----------3-------------------------------|
G|----------2-------------------------------|
D|---3-2p0--0-----3-2p0--3--5---------------|
A|-5-----------5---------3--5---------------|
E|-----------------------1--3---------------|
E|------------------------------------------|
B|----------3-------------------------------|
G|----------2-------------------------------|
D|---3-2p0--0---3--5------------------------|
A|-5------------3--5------------------------|
E|--------------1--3------------------------|
(Lots of extra muted strums and stuff, but that's the general idea.)
Notice that the second time through, the 3 2p0 part isn't played before the F and G chords. The F and G chords last longer to compensate.
There's a lot of other instruments and parts going that sound lower than that, though, so I think on your own it sounds better to do the riff an octave lower, in standard tuning.
So, standard tuning version:
E|------------------------------------------|
B|----------1-------------------------------|
G|----------2-----------5--7----------------|
D|-2--------2--2--------5--7----------------|
A|-0-3-2p0--0--0-3-2p0--3--5----------------|
E|------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------|
B|----------1-------------------------------|
G|----------2---5--7------------------------|
D|-2--------2---5--7------------------------|
A|-0-3-2p0--0---3--5------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------|
And that's pretty much it, even for the slow parts, which are just variations on the same progression without the 3 2p0 riff part.
Break:
Raised B tuning:
A, G, Bm, A
A, G, Bm, A
G, A, G, A
Standard tuning:
E, D, F#m, E
E, D, F#m, E
D, E, D, E
