Funny the Way It Is

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

the Bm on just the A and the G isn't working for me either, hmm what abouttttt

e-----------------------------------------------------------
b-----------------------------------------------------------
g----9------4>7--5-----------------------------------------------------------
d -----------------5
a----7------2>5--3
e----8------3>7--x

stay on the g for awhile and then right when the lyric goes up hit the Dave Bm chord real fast then quickly back down to the C
...tell me what you think

yea use anything you like. The F is a full sound though if you're playing this solo. the x3x5xx are some of the same notes within the F chord. And does anyone have a better idea of how to end the "Standing on a bridge..." part? ??? ??

Honestly, that first part after "standing" sounds something more like this to me....

Code: Select all

E---------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------
G---------------------------------------------
D------3-3--------------------2----2--3--2-----
A-5-5------1-1---5-5--3-3-------3----------3---
E---------------------------------------------
I know it's not right at the end though... sounds like it changes... Hmm...

i'll post my full tab tomorrow, but the third chord in the chorus is a G with a B root.

try:

Code: Select all

e---|
b-3-|
g-0-|
d-0-|
a-2-|
E---|
or (more in Dave's style)

Code: Select all

e---|
b---|
g-7-|
d-5-|
a---|
E-7-|

I think it sounds the same, but if you look in the YouTube video from MSG Dave never drops down to the 7th fret to get his funky chord with the B root. He clearly stays on the 2nd fret and then onto the 1st fret for the F.

I think a lot of my alternate verses sound more like the Studio version than the power chords. And frankly, I'm surprised that Dave plays so many power chords in the song.

After watching a couple videos here is what I can see Dave playing:
______________________________________

INTRO:

---------------
---------------
---------------
--7--5--5--3---
--x--x--x--x---
--5--3--3--1---
______________________________________

VERSE:

-(0)-3--3--1--
--1--0--0--1--
--2--0--0--2--
--2--0--0--3--
--0--2--2--3--
--x--3--3--1--

at MSG he went to this for later verses...

-(0)----------
--1-----------
--2-----------
--2--5--5--3--
--0--x--x--3--
--x--3--3--1--
______________________________________

CHORUS:

----------------(1)-
----------------(1)-
-----5--5--4--4--3--
-----x-(0)(0)-x--2--
--2--3--x--x--2--2--
--------3--3-----1--

(that first B note is hit on the upstroke as a pick up to the first "C" chord)
______________________________________

POST-CHORUS:

----------------------------------
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
------3-3---------2-2-3-3-5-5-7-7-
----------3-3-5-5-----------------
--1-1-----------------------------
______________________________________

BRIDGE: (not 100% positive on this one, I see his fingers moving a little bit but he may just be muting the strings)

----------------------
----------------------
--7-7--3-3--5-5--2-x--
--x-x--x-x--x-x--3-2--
--5-5--1-1--3-3--3-x--
-----------------1-x--

----------------------
----------------------
--7-7--3-3--5-5-----
--x-x--x-x--x-x--5-5--
--5-5--1-1--3-3--x-x--
-----------------3-3--
______________________________________

What about Timmy's little solo in the middle? Anyone got anything on that part?
