Taylor vs. Martin --- strait up.

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

All I know is the new Taylor's are comming with the Expression pickups, very nice tri magnetic pickups instead of the normal bridge pickups which can cause distortion and feedback. The new Expression pickups are awesome. Also Taylor is releasing a new series of guitars (called the 110) that come out this July that break the $700 Range. For some reason I do not think the expression pickups will be in that haha... That is giong to be the first guitar I try before spending any large ammounts on a new guitar. For now I will keep playing my sorry $200 Yamaha F-35 (hey it was a christmas present and I still enjoy it).

Allright you busted me, I was going off the information in Taylors newspaper. What is the price on it, not that I can afford it yet, and does it have the new Expression pickups?

Not to sound like I bastard, although I am one JK, but the 110 has no electronics. As far as I know, Taylor's site hasn't mentioned a 100 series, just a 110, therefore no elecs at all. Not too sure about that though. I have played one at GC in the Cleveland area and it costs somewhere in the $500s. I think the exact price was $520, not sure though.

Yeah you are one haha JK too, thanks for the info, was also hoping to hear a review on that 110. And of course it figures they wouldn't put in the new pickups (dam corporate jerks always wanting to suck us in more). Checked out your site, like it man, and glad to know we sound almost as bad as each other, but it will come man or at least that is what I keep telling myself, liked your rendition of Big Eyed Fish since that is one of the songs I am still trying to get all the way through, and is one of my favorites. Keep it up man and play on.

Peace

Thanks for the complements, I think  . I checked out the Taylor website last night and they said that the new pickups would be on the 500 series and up. So, if there is a 114, it won't have the new pickups on it, as well as the 300 and 400 series guitars. As for my cover of BEF, I recorded that a year ago so it sounds pretty crappy. Haven't recorded anything in a while. My next one will probably be OSW w/ instrumental intro.

'bout the same price as regular 400's...the 414 has a retail of around $2000, but usually a local guitar shop will drop it down to $1600, which is what i'm snaggin' mine for. :)

Save a few hundred more bucks and get the all solid wood 310, thats what I'm gonna do. I was talking to this guy who owns his own acoustic guitar only shop and he seemed to know a lot about guitars and pickups. He wasn't trying to push anything on me either, he actually was leaning towards me getting a 310 instead of a 310ce which is about $300 more. He said that when you have a guitar with a cutaway and electronics, it deadens the sound because it takes more energy to reach the soundboard since the pickups are between the bridge and soundboard. Also, the battery needed makes the guitar weigh more, and the cutaway creates a lesser area to create sound. Make any sense? Prolly not but oh well. Now 414ce summer limited for me, I don't have nearly that much money, plus the 310 sounds to good to my ears. It is better than anything I need so, I'm gonna go with it.
