daves strings

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Thats funny, cuz I used the Elix for a couple years and now I am hooked on the A'd coated. Personal Pref

ya im not really down with elixir's. i dont like coated strings, so i normally stick with the d'addario EJ16's, they sound great. They obviously dont last sa long as coated strings, especially elixir's, but they only cost a little bit over $5, so even if u change them twice as many times as u would with coated strings, its better than spending around $13-$15 on a set of strings. But thats just me

I thought Dave used EXP's. If so, aren't they coated, so why would he have to use uncoated to take a step toward getting that sound?

he used to have the EXP15's on his SST's I believe, but nowadays he uses EXP17 and EJ16-strings.

He doesnt need for strings to last as long thats why he uses the Ddadrios (and obviously the sound quality). I think someone on these boards said that he has his strings changed every day or every other day.

ya on a question and answer thing with the crew they said he primarily uses exp17's and he has new strings every night

i wouldnt like that. i think im the only one who doesnt like new strings on their guitar.
i think my axe sounds best when the strings are a few weeks old

I dont like the "twanginess" to brand new strings. But I like playing when mine are about 3-4 days old.
