Playing like Dave?

Now, this is just my humble opinion, but it does bother me when someone is trying to learn someone else's song and they don't use the same chords as the original artist. If they wrote the song that way shouldn't people play it the way that it was meant to be played. I think the only exception to this is if you are playing the same song in a different style. But that's just me saying this which doesn't carry a whole lot of weight.
