There was some collector on one of Martin message boards that was so impressed with the DM3MD that he had 2 of them. One was #40 of 234. The kicker is that he claimed that he had not ever heard a single DMB song. I sent him an MP3 of #40 from Yoshi's and he said it was "OK" but a little bit to long for he taste

Fuck John Mayer and him buying any guitar he thinks he wants. I think he is trying to buy all Fender Monterey Strats on ebay. Gay.bbatsell wrote:Yeah, I can definitely see that. Doesn't John Mayer own one of those 4? I know he's got 2 or 3 of them, but I thought I read he had one of the "special" numbered ones.checkii wrote:you think #36, #40, and #41 would actually sell for a shit ton more? i could actually see that happening.
But really I just wish I was as wealthy and good at guitar as him.

If money was not an issue I would buy it, otherwise I would only buy a guitar that nice if I was going to play it and honestly, I 'm going to shell out thousands for a martin like that it really should say MY name on it shouldn't it?

I actually considered going to Martin and seeing what it cost to have my specs made out and adding my signature to the 20th fret. Then I decided that it would be too vain. I figured that I'd sound like an ass if anyone ever asked what model it was. I'd have to say, "Oh, it's a Mike Mauro signature edition. Only 1 made and I've got it".c_tietze wrote:If money was not an issue I would buy it, otherwise I would only buy a guitar that nice if I was going to play it and honestly, I 'm going to shell out thousands for a martin like that it really should say MY name on it shouldn't it?

I'm glad you said that because for some reason I was under the impression that they were preatty much the same guitar sound wise when you looked at the bracing and wood. I didn't realize the DM3MD had scaloped bracing, more like the HD-35 but it's still a bit different, also has an elgleman top. I really want to play one of these, it should sound a lot better then I thought it would. thanks for making me look (It was a pain in the ass finding the fucking specs on that thing, Martin dosn't post them on their site anymore. I did a search on google and ended up back on this forum, lol it rocks.).bbatsell wrote:No, it's really not.mattinbeloit wrote:It is basically a D-35 [snip]

Ha ha, it would be great to have your own name. Honestly, I've been saving for a D35 because I love the 3 piece back and balance treble/bass and the sustain, it's a 2100 investment for a lefty like me and the thing that's more important to me now is the IEM and shure's cheapest is 600.
another thing too with these sorts of instruments, you have to have good electronics/pickups/preamps to convey how quality the instrument sounds unplugged
can you imagine being so filthy rich you didn't have to worry and could just buy any axe you wanted, thing is most people like that don't even play they just want a show piece
