Sister

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

if a graph were drawn for the song that sounds the best ploted against ease of playing.
this would win
Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": Dr. Peter Venkman: I make it a rule never to get involved with possessed people. Actually it's more of a guideline than a rule.

sister lyrics

Unread post by chjbaker » Mon Jun 05, 2006 6:32 am

passing time with you in mind
it's another quiet night
i feel the ground against my back
count the stars against the black

think about another day
wishing i was far away
wherever i dreamed i was
you were there with me

*chorus*
sister, i hear you laugh
my heart fills full up
keep me please
sister, when you cry
i feel your tears
running down my face
sister, sister
you keep me

i could never make it through
i hope you always know its true
that you could make the sun go dark
just by walking away

playing like we used to play
like it would never go away
i feel you beating in my chest
i'd be dammed without my

*chorus*
sister, i hear you laugh
my heart fills full up
keep me please
sister, when you cry
i feel your tears
running down my face
sister, sister
you keep me

i hope you always know it's true
that i could never walk away
you could make the heavens fall
just by walking away

*chorus*
sister, i hear you laugh
my heart fills full up
keep me please
sister, when you cry
i feel your tears
running down my face
sister, sister
you keep me

Or is it a hyperbola? Where are the foci? Eh?..lol..

paulaitchison wrote:anyone know how to play it in standard?

ie, i dont have a capo
You could TRY to turn your guitar up..lol...These things are hell to play without a capo..I tried doing that to Stay or Leave back in the day...Started with High e..Snapped within 2 mintues lol. Better just go buy a capo.

I would also advise against trying to play the song in standard. Like they were saying, the song is in Raised B tuning, like Oh and Stay or Leave, but with the low E string tuned to A. Dave writes these songs on a baritone guitar, it's not worth the time trying to tune to these tunings on a standard guitar, you'll break the strings in a heartbeat. Slap that capo on the 7th fret or go buy a baritone guitar, the strings are much thicker. I'd recommend getting a kyser quick change capo, they're the best, all other capos are gay.

It's not a baritone guitar, it's one of his 714's, or as of recent sometimes one of his 914's now.

EDIT: And it's been covered a couple times how to tune your guitar to raised B. Here's the thread on how to do it if you're interested. It's worth doing it if you have an extra guitar.

Just wondering if anyone could post this "video" that you say is floating around for Sister. I just saw Dave play it tonight @ Molson Amphitheater, it was amazing!

This is easily one of the most beautiful songs Dave has written (not to sound like too big of a pussy). This tour has made me happy he still has it. I just strung up a guitar to play this song, and I'm lovin it.
