playing guitar for about 8 months

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I just got a guitar and started to learn how to play this past week. I've never played a musical instrument before so I hope I can pick this up and learn to play well eventually....any tips?? Any DMB songs that are good to start with??

Welcome to the boards Draven , im sure you'll learn alot here

As for tips , i would suggest you learn as much as possible from resources on the web .. go wo Google.com and search for guitar lessons .... Also learn all the basic chords ....

As for the DMB songs , there was a topic a good month ago , you can find that right HERE .. also try using the search button here on the forums , as im sure there's alot of topics like that

Hey thanks man...This seams like a really good community. I'm really excited about learning although I must say I'm somewhat intimidated. I'm gonna stick with it though and try to learn as much as I can...I love the sound of an acoustic guitar.

its gonna be hard for you to hear this if you havent thought about it yet, but youre going to suck at guitar for a while. everyone does when theyre beginning. some of you might be saying that everyone knows this - well its not true. i have friends who have quit because it was 'hard'. dont give up dude. when learning dave you can learn at an amazing speed. good luck.

This is a great community with some damn fine people always here to help and answer questions about anything and everything ....

Keep at it and you'll be playing some great tunes in no time

well like i said ive only been playing 6 months but i'd say that almost every day i play for a couple hours at least... all semester i'd do a homework problem, play guitar for 10 minutes, do a homework problem, play for 10 minutes... eventually i had to get the hell out of my apartment to do homework because i could never get anything done, always playing guitar

practice practice practice

33 songs in 8 months, all of them in three months...

You two need to post some stuff up in the recording forum. It's very easy to do, and you will only need to spend $8 on a computer mic if you don't already have one. Its impossible to tell how you're coming along without a recording. To be frank, I thought I could play a lot of dave songs until I had

THE REALIZATION.

Merely hitting the notes doesnt cut it.

I wonder if Dave is sick of playing Dave. I mean, he's got to have the urge to branch out and try new styles. Maybe he's afraid of another 'everyday' backlash.

Yeah man, don't worry. I've almost been 'playing' for almost 2 years now and I'm just starting to get them down. Keep practicin'. I suppose it just takes longer for some people, but when you get there... it's damn satisfying!!
