Hey thanks man...This seams like a really good community. I'm really excited about learning although I must say I'm somewhat intimidated. I'm gonna stick with it though and try to learn as much as I can...I love the sound of an acoustic guitar.DustyDave wrote:Welcome to the boards Draven , im sure you'll learn alot here

its gonna be hard for you to hear this if you havent thought about it yet, but youre going to suck at guitar for a while. everyone does when theyre beginning. some of you might be saying that everyone knows this - well its not true. i have friends who have quit because it was 'hard'. dont give up dude. when learning dave you can learn at an amazing speed. good luck.draven33 wrote:Hey thanks man...This seams like a really good community. I never took lessons either , and no matter what , it will always come around to the same answer everytime .... Practice practice practice ... No one else besides yourself can do that
This is a great community with some damn fine people always here to help and answer questions about anything and everything ....
Keep at it and you'll be playing some great tunes in no time

well like i said ive only been playing 6 months but i'd say that almost every day i play for a couple hours at least... all semester i'd do a homework problem, play guitar for 10 minutes, do a homework problem, play for 10 minutes... eventually i had to get the hell out of my apartment to do homework because i could never get anything done, always playing guitarJLH wrote:WOW!!!!!! all this talk on 3 months to learn a lot of dave songs and 8 months to learn 33.......lets see I have been playing for 5 months and I practice a lot..........I can't do a song acutully the only thing I can do on dave is sattellite intro and typical situation......I am having a very hard time learning this...I gotta be doing something wrong...I am not progressing...Would taking lessons help me on this......

33 songs in 8 months, all of them in three months...
You two need to post some stuff up in the recording forum. It's very easy to do, and you will only need to spend $8 on a computer mic if you don't already have one. Its impossible to tell how you're coming along without a recording. To be frank, I thought I could play a lot of dave songs until I had
THE REALIZATION.
Merely hitting the notes doesnt cut it.

I wonder if Dave is sick of playing Dave. I mean, he's got to have the urge to branch out and try new styles. Maybe he's afraid of another 'everyday' backlash. The Dreaming Tree wrote: I started with almost all dave, mainly because i like it, and its what i was happiest playing... now that im used to playing, ive learned a lot and gained decent ability, and im learning more about theory... The longer i play the faster i learn new songs and thats great because im starting to get sick of ONLY dave lol...

Yeah man, don't worry. I've almost been 'playing' for almost 2 years now and I'm just starting to get them down. Keep practicin'. I suppose it just takes longer for some people, but when you get there... it's damn satisfying!!JLH wrote:WOW!!!!!! all this talk on 3 months to learn a lot of dave songs and 8 months to learn 33.......lets see I have been playing for 5 months and I practice a lot..........I can't do a song acutully the only thing I can do on dave is sattellite intro and typical situation......I am having a very hard time learning this...I gotta be doing something wrong...I am not progressing...Would taking lessons help me on this......
