So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Massive Contradiction.

But from what ive heard from everyone else, lessons sound really productive, I think i may do them in the new year. You guys think?
Yeah man, do it. I might do it this summer.

i've heard that sometimes, only 2-3 hours or less with a teacher can help a lot on your playing ... don't necessarly needs weeks or months, depend on how much you put practice into it i guess ... but hey, i'm really thinking about lessons too ... probably in the new year.

Lessons will help you improve faster than on your own. Finding an instructor you enjoy working with is crucial.

i had lessons for almost 2 years. i thought they were useless, but i was damn wrong.
now (2 years and a half later) i improved much, but i feel like i could have got much better...i decided a few days ago i'm gonna take lessons too in the new year

I want lessons to get me more educated in theory and the fundamentals of playing. I mean now i can read any tab and play the shit out of it, but that's where im stuck at right now in my abilities.

yeah i had been playing for about 9 mos and could play most dave songs, and most any song for that matter, by tabs, but started taking lessons a couple months ago to work on theory and whatever else this guy could help me out on and he is an amazing musician, and i found, as i think a lot of people might, that you'll often learn stuff from lessons that you weren't going in there trying to learn, so they're usually helpful for any beginner or even intermediate player

I've been trying to get into some lessons for about a year and a half.. but I'm so bloody broke that I can't afford it.. So... I've been stuck at the level I'm at now... As hard as I might try, I can't seem to get out of my rut.

ive considered taking lessons, just for the theory and composition aspect. i tried lessons once i started, took 2 or 3, didnt care for the instructor at all. very intelligent musically, but was obsessed with playing metal and hard stuff like that, and that isnt what i wanted and still dont want to do. i need to find a really good instructor who knows a lot of theory and can somewhat cater it to the direction in which i want to go.

i took lessons for only 2 months. best thing i've ever done. i learned more in the 2 months than the 3 years i've been looking at tabs trying to play the guitar. lack of motivation was the reason for quitting the lessons.

It is definately all about finding the right teacher. My teacher is an awesome guitarist and is a great teacher. He has a lot of knowledge. I can play DMB better than he can though but he plays Hendrix and Clapton like its his job. Which is good because it is getting me into more styles of music.

I've found that without instruction (barring the music theory class I took) I'm free to discover music however I choose. I take inspiration from friends who play, music I listen to, stuff like that. I will someday maybe look into it, but right now, I'm broke and like exploring on my own.
