No that's because he breaks a lot of strings.or maybe thats why he uses more than one regular and drop d tuning guitar one high action the other low.

what is jellyfish's website?????????neuro wrote:I think it's low.
D/L the bartender video off jellyfish's website and listen to the insane amount of buzzing with each strum ... it's definitely noticeable.
I've noticed string buzzing on a lot of live recordings of Dave's solo stuff. It doesn't sound bad ... but it is noticeable.
Most strummers like low action ... makes barre chords and such much easier and smoother ... finger pickers usually prefer action a little on the high side.
It will be interesting to here what the crew has to say.

Re: Daves guitar action?
According to the Fishman tech, Joe B. said Dave likes his action high. I remember he told me that when he was working on the 'Dave' setup for my Chetlittle ants734 wrote:Anyone know what Daves action is at (High or Low)? If he likes high or low, I am sure he has a preference. Anyone know? Thanks

Their's one other advantage to having high action. It makes it easier to play slide without nicking the frets and getting a dorky slide tone. I got the action on my old guitar raised to I could mainly slide on it and it paid off handsomely.
