I guess instead of sometimes I only do the downstroke once, I just do it all the time. I can't see to do two down strokes that fast. I guess because I haven't been practicing that. I'll give it a shot though.Doron Diamond wrote:I do Bass: Down up down up
Bass Down Down up

Sometimes I'll only do one downstroke after the second bass note.

ok, here's how i play it:
b=bass
d=down
u=up
repeat this in your head like its the song......
b....d..uu....b.....d..uu...b...d....uu...b..d
when i strum up i focus more on the lower strings. sometimes i play it the listener supported way which a few d and u strokes after the bass notes. that's how i play it and it seems right on to me. crash was the first song i learned and it came pretty easily except for the singing part which i can do now but the way i learn a song it first to break it up and really slow it down, Darklight1701 said it very well. you have to disect the song and listen to the bass and the drums and even the fills, especially with dave cause i was trying to learn crash and it turned out i was trying to play tims parts along with dave's and well....yeah that didn't work. just, you have to learn and know the song before you can play the song. playing with headphones is where its at for me. any of this make sense?

ok, try listening to these and tell me what you think..they're not great, but hopefully you can hear my strum pattern so you can understand itsnoopdoug1 wrote:wow, I don't think I could do it that fast right now for the second bass note. THat has to be REALLY quick doesn't it?billywestom wrote:almost right, try this....snoopdoug1 wrote:Thanks guys! I guess I'll just keep practicingGood advice on the bass notes!
So here's the strumming pattern I do.
Bass, down,up,down,up
Bass, down, up
repeat
Anyone know if that is right? Or is that what anyone else does?
Thanks!
Bass, down,up,down,up
Bass, down, up, down, up (these ones are just a little faster..)
repeat

Slow Crash Riff
Normal Crash Riff
