Chet SST

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

If you plug one into an Electric amp, you can get a similar sound Dave gets. Its a bit more edgier with more bite.

how can the store have the chet and not a amp?
It was a lame store that manly had sheet music, They had electric amps, but no acoustic ones. Also the store has a pretty bad selection, the only reason why they had the chet was that it was used. All and all it was a pretty crappy store but I've found a better one, but they don't have a chet :?

I didn't see your post till I posted my response to Swe dmbfan. I didn't know that you could play it out of an electric amp, I knew it's possible (to play an acoustic out of and Electric amp) but I just figured it would sound bad, So now I wish i would have plugged it in to the electric amp

The Chet SST is a nice guitar and unfortunately has become known as the "Dave Guitar".

Second, unless you have the special electronics that Dave has on his guitars the SST still won't sound like UTTAD.

My Epi Chet is great! I'm sure the Gibson is better, but I have no complaints. I'm playing it through a Fender Acoustasonic 30. Nice tone especially with a little reverb added.

I've lived in Massachusetts for a long time and I never realized Fishman was right in my back yard. They have great products and excellent customer service.

He used the Yamaha guitar to record UTTAD. The guitar you hear is too natrual of a sound to be Dave's Chet. Red Rocks is the epitimy of Dave's Chet sound. Going through an electric amp and having the Bass, Middle, and Treble at the right levels, gives it that bite Dave had on his Chet. Its not exactly the same, but it is the best you can do without changing pickups.
