Hey Everyone..

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I just started as well - and i'm a girl, but i can play proudest monkey, a shaky everyday and the main part to grey st, and BEF, so if i can do it - im sure u can too. Also, the intro to typical sit is real easy and i hear the whole song is but im terrible about practicing so i haven't learned much else!

I have a few questions. First, how do you know when you are suppost to do an up or down stroke, or if you are suppost to hit an individual string? Take everyday for example:

Code: Select all

E:-------------------------------
B:-------------------------------
G:--------9------------9-----9--- <---2
D:-10-----10----10-----------10-- <---3
A:-----8------------------------- x3 then End of Verse
E:------------------8-----8------
   3 1 3 1 2 1
it sounds like he is hitting a single string, then playing a few, then a single. (don't know how to explain it any better) Also, what does the "<---2" and "<---3" and the numbers at the very bottom mean? Ok, one more thing, how do you mute a string?

Thanks,
Mike

The bad part about tabs is that you have to figure out the rhythm (up and down strokes) on our own...

As far as which strings you should hit, I am not sure how to explain other than if there is no number (or x) don't hit it. If that doesn't help then read this http://www.dmbtabs.com/faq.php?id=2

The 2 and 3 at the bottom and on the side represent which finger you should use to fret that string 1=index 2=middle 3=ring 4=pinky

To mute a string, just lay any part of a finger or your hand (left) lightly over the string and strum or pick with your right hand...you will get a dead muted sound.

I hope this helps a little bit, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
