This is how I play it too. I think one of the most important things in getting the sound right is the slide on the d and g strings. It always sounds to me like its held for just a breif moment and then he moves on to the double 8s on the d and g strings. The double 8's on the d and g strings help to sustain the sound of the slide. If you can get that slide part in the beginning to sound right, then the rest will fall into place pretty naturally.gravedigger wrote:Code:that's how I play it which is ever so slightly different than the other ones posted.Code: Select all

No one's more critical of me than me, but I gotta say I really believe I've got this part pretty damn close....... opinions anyone?dmfollower wrote:nice job on the soundbite gravedigger, very smooth. i actually never used to go back to the Ab on the E after going through the chorus, that's what i was missing. thanks.

you're prolly not crazy. I played it slower than Dave plays it with Tim, but it you notice in the full band concerts, he plays it pretty slow. I wanted to play it on that slower tempo so it could be heard better also. I listened to it back and I except for a few little mishaps, the chords and the timing is how I wanted it to be played. it's ever so slightly different than jkanter's tab, but its how I play it.IronMike778 wrote:

But on your satellite clip, I gotta say something just doesn't seem to be exact about it. Did you purposely play it slow for the sake of the original poster? Something just seems to be off and I can't quite put my finger on it
Am I crazy?
peace,
Ken

OK...makes sense. I find the studio version to be PAINFULLY slow.gravedigger wrote:you're prolly not crazy. hey CPTino3001, i'm sorry i downloaded gravediggers soundbite first, i've been trying to download yours and the page doesn't seem to be working but i'll keep checking it. i've never actually played guitar with anyone else who likes to play dmb so i am always anscious to listen to another person play. i have to say that gravediggers version was pretty right on, give or take the timing but dave never plays it the same by himself or with tim. i'll give it a try tomorrow. peace.

ok, i just got done listening to both CPTino3001 and gravedigger's soundclips and i have to say that they both sound very close. but if i had to pick one i'd have to say that gravediggers is most accurate. CPTino3001, yours is by no means not accurate, i think that your strumming is a little off but other than that is seems that you guys are playing the same notes for the most part. i think i strum the chorus a little quicker than gravediggers but i'm not saying i play it correct. i wish i could record sound clips, the only recorder i have is an extremely shitty 60sec. sound recorder on windows xp. how do you guys make those clips anyways?
