Theory is helpful if you want to be a musician and a composer. I'm not talking just techniques and scales on the guitar.... Or even what guidlines to use to achieve a ceratin emotion within your music. It's bigger than that. Once you learn theory and spend a lot of time practicing and working with music you'll be able to (on the spot) come up with awesome music. After a lot of work you'll be able to hear music in your head and know exactly which notes you're thinking of, not to mention you'll be able to almost instantly figure out any song you want to.
How do you think Timmy got so good at improvising? Not that he's the best or even close, but he's pretty damn good and well-known around here. Don't forget Ludwig V.B. and Mozart! He didn't even have that many years under his belt, but he knew what he was doing. And Ludwig could only ever hear the music in his head for most of his life... Kind of sad, actually.
You need to know not only what you're playing, but why and how it works. After that a whole slew of doors will be open for you to explore.

How about you read it a little lighter next time. I'm saying that doesn't sound like someone dave would use in a song. It doesn't sound like dave's sound we've all known to likeKukini wrote:DMBFan63, I'm sure you know exactly what chords Dave would use right? I just felt the fingering of my chord was similar to something Dave would use but eh who gives a shit what you think?
God damn, people can be real fucking bitches. I can have an opinion without people getting pissed at me, can't I?
I don't mean to jump on you though, bud. I just hate when someone voices an opinion and they get pissed on for it. It's their opinion. Just like you think it is a fingering that seems dave like, i can disagree..

how does it make you feel like an ass? I said"In my opinion, I don't think it sounds like something dave would use." that seems like a pretty laid back statement..if you think that makes someone feel like an ass, you have some stuff to learn around here. People get a lot more shit then this. I just was saying TO ME it doesn't sound like it. Maybe you think it does, well, no maybe about it, you do. I don't. we have a difference. No need to feel like an ass. You have a different opinion on something, no big dealKukini wrote:not if your opinion makes someone feel like an ass. Just keep it to yourself next time.

I don't understand what you're saying at all..Kukini wrote:Sounds good to me then... I just don't understand why you have to voice it? Let people find out for themselves if they think it sounds like whatever it sounds like.
You voiced your opinion that you thought it sounded davish.. i have every right to follow up your opinion with my opinion. I'm sure that because i said that people aren't going to go" Dmbfan63 is right, it sucks" They will either go"Yeah! I like that!" or "Eh, that isn't really dave like to me.."
Anyway, I don't like holding grudges with people on the internet, so is everything cool between us? When you joined a while ago, i was doubting your skill, then you posted up that little satellite clip. That was pretty solid for your time playing.
