Crush Tab

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Crush Tab

Unread post by Guitarlover22 » Sun Jan 07, 2007 8:17 pm

Hi all. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've been playing guitar for only 1 1/2 years. I am a classically trained musician, so have knowledge of theory, and find guitar very challenging and rewarding. I have a question regarding Crush.

I've noticed that even when you buy professional looking Tab books, they are often wrong. In the official book with Crush (the album book), it lists the rhythm guitar as playing chords basically the whole song. A few times I've noticed that both Dave and others have variations. Hopefully someone can help.

I'm set from the beginning up until the end of the verse:

The lyrics are - "Make it all alright, love". The progression is listed in the book at C5 - Bm, however, it seems that something happens before the Bm chord (possibly some kind of suspension). Does anyone have Tab for that?'

Also, in the Chorus - "It's crazy I'm thinking, just knowing that the world is round" etc., the I noticed that Dave plays two of those chords differently sometimes. Does someone have tab for those?

This is my first time on these boards, so I'm not sure if it's easier to do this another way, possibly email, rather than posting. If so, please let me know! I look forward to being active on the board.

Thanks,

GuitarLover22

the tabs on this site are tabbed from video. guitar books are tabbed from ear. obviously, both ways can be played, just one is how dave plays it and another is how someone hears it, both are going to sound really similar and only people that know the correct way to play are going to know the difference. i don't even play crush the correct way cause i dont' drop D and i play the chorus in full chords. but as for the Dave way to play crush, just check out the tab on this site, it's accurate.

When I click on Audio/Video tab's, it isn't listed. Are there other tabs listed elsewhere?

Thanks again!

go to the main site and hover over the album covers. they're drop downs to all the tabs.

Go to youtube, search for "Crush AOL Dave Matthews" Watch it. Watch it again, keep watchin and soon you'll be able to play the best version of this song. :)

The tab on this site is lacking in volume, so I had to use this video (and my ears).

did not know about the chord before the Bm. I don't believe this site has it tabbed that way. I am going to have to try it out now.

I have a question though. What are the full chords to the chorus?

It does (not exactly, but you can get a picture):

Code: Select all

Transition into Verse:
E:----------
B:----------
G:-5--------
D:-5-----5-- <---4
A:-3-----2-- <---1
D:----------
gmmmotors wrote:I have a question though. What are the full chords to the chorus?
You mean these?

Code: Select all

Chorus:
E:--------------------------
B:--------------------------
G:-12-----12-----12-----12-- <---4
D:-10-----12-----10-----9--- <---2on10(3on12, 1on9 & 2nd 10)
A:-8------10-----10-----10-- <---1on8 & 1st,2nd 10(2on 3rd 10)
D:--------------------------

Well that is the way I play it right now. But are there any other substitute chords that would work for the chorus? I just do not like the sound I get when I play these chords (above).

The chords are Fsus2, G5, C, G but I dont know how you cant like the sound. Maybe practice a bit more with these making sure you are mutin the proper strings. The chords for this part of the song are just perfect if played well.

Anyways, try these chords and see if they fair any better. You may find its a lot easier to get a better sound.

Sounds a bit to open and ringy for me but see what you think.
