Spotlight

Isn't this song badass? The version i have has a long intro with a lot of muting. But i think there's a part of this song that i can't play and i can't remember what part it is. Its the part where the music changes from the regular verse and chorus....maybe a bridge?
Anyone know this part i'm speaking of?
Props to Soul Coughing.....Right?

You thinking about this part ?

D:-x----------x-----x--
A:-1----------5-----3--

A bridge is what sounds different from both chorus and verse , you can use a bridge to change the whole point in a song around .... Anyways i can't remember spotlight from the top of my head , its been a while since i've heard it so i can't say that im absolutely correct about the section above , but my guess is that is what you're looking for

Yeah, I have a show when people in the crowd are yelling for it and he says something like "me and tim used to play this song a lot back in the day called spotlight and people are always asking for it at shows but I havent played it in a long time because, I fucking hate it" Something like that, it was real funny.

why do you suppose he hates it? do you think he and tim just overplayed it or maybe dave stole somebodies elses riches and he's feeling guilty or maybe he realized that even though he is going to retire with a million buck that life isn't soo peachy after all?
i don't know, i love this song but it does get stuck in my head for days at a time.

.....no, that can't be it.
maybe dave doesn't like it cause he gets sick of that damn spotlight that's probably always in his eyes when on stage and so he probably just doesn't like to sing about it :P

I cant remember the show, but someone yells for it and Dave's response is:

"You know, I....I...I used to play that song, Satellite, er, Spotlight, uh, you know, uh, all the time. But uh, uh, I think, uh, if it were anything other than a song, then, uh, it would be a turd."

I've heard he doesnt like it cause he's sort of living the song now. Like the lyrics actually apply to him. I dont like it cause its a dumb song.

Me with te dmb info saves the day again ;) . Dave has said they don't play it anymore, because of the meaning of the song. He felt it made an impression that the band was full of themselves, had a big ego, or something like that (can't remember the actual words). If you listen to the song, you will see what he is talking about. That is what Dave said.

He wrote it many many many years ago, and I'm guessing he had no idea what he was going to end up as. Anyway, I like the song if it's a good version. 1/27/93 is a good version, so try to find that one App and get it downloaded.
