So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

hmm...the best sounding acoustic ive played plugged in was an ovation. it was about a 500 dollar guitar, and it captured my percussive playing style wonderfully. if you play the way dave does, you might want to consider one of those. also, if you wanted a thin-bodied guitar, ovations somewhat fit that description.
good luck

I personally don't care much for the Ovations, especially the cheaper ones, as I find they lack tonal complexity, and aren't warm enough for my taste.

Yeah, gone were the days...now its some other sold out phaze he seems to be heading into (NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!)
I hope the D&T shows aren't like the overproduced live stuff I have been hearing lately(by overproduced, I mean that sound of "too-tight", too clean cut...non-improvasational style that they have been putting out in recent live shows)...
Just doesn't feel the same anymore
Maybe he will go back when he has grey hair, play the chet, and put on some checkered pants, wear some red shoes, and sit in a wheelchair and sing RECENTLY RTT style with no teeth left?

Like Tico said, they lack warmth...too bright sounding at time almost like the sound that you get when you play a twelve string...too much bright tones without, like tico said "tonal complexity"...and dangit (!) they always slide away from you!!!
Just my opinion

Listen to Red Rocks, where Dave uses the Chet. The guitar tone sounds like SHIT compared to, for example, Listener Supported, where he uses a Martin. The Chet is ass, but it looks cool.

I think it looks good, and has plenty of finish options on it so you can get what you want.

I don't think it sounds very good as far as trying to get a real acoustic tone, but it's alright...sorry if that bothers you, just my honest opinion. I still really want one though...yes, I would buy one just because Dave played one...about the only reason I'd buy a guitar b/c of someone else using it unless it was a sig model of one of my favorite artists...oh yeah, it looks sweet too!

it doesn't bother me what you guys think...and i know it doesn't have a TRUE acoustic tone, but i never said it did...it just plays so clean and works perfect for a guy who plays with a band...
