There might be a couple I don't like, probably songs from "Everyday" and "Stand Up" cause in my opinion, those are his worst albums, but thats besides the point. But he basically taught me how to play guitar. I ve been playing his songs since the beginning and moving up from his easiest to hardest..I wonder if I would even play guitar if it wasn't for him...What would you say?
I don't play much Dave anymore. A few I keep in my weekly repetoire (The Stone, Tripping Billies, Two Step) and I like to know I have Crash and Crush down every month, because they get me head at parties, but other than that, I don't play much Dave anymore at all. It's difficult for me to keep interested in advancing my guitar after 14 years of playing as well. I don't enjoy soloing, you see, and while I like to listen to tapping and worked on it in the past, I don't practice it.
I just like to write songs and listen to as much music as possible. Especially as of late, getting into more Paul Oakenfold, Aphex Twin, some older Chemical Brothers, all these bands that only have sampled guitars if any, it effects the production on my own music quite a bit.
That's all I do, really. I don't learn other peoples songs any more. I just fuck around and make my own. Not that I'm as good as I could get. But I'm as good as I want to be, and have an understanding of music theory as a whole and how it functions, so I'm content. My "crazy over Dave music" phase ended a while ago, but I'm glad I went through it.
